bags and totes

I love to dress up:

a dress, tights or hose, patent heels, and a designer bag..
..and a tote with practice dress, dance shoes.. and i have to carry it with me to work and then to practice all day. No matter if it is a designer outfit I am wearing, I cannot look elegant carrying all this stuff around in a plastic bag or a tote..

how do you resolve this?

Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Leather Shoulder Bag. Now, *that's* my idea of a dance bag. <swoon>

What I really use: LLBean tote. Yawn.

doesn't look that big.. you think everything will fit?
might resolve a problem for some one doing one style, but
if one is practicing both latin and standard..

Why don't you get a really large designer bag, ones that every celeb is toting these days that would fit all your stuff in it? Like a bucket bag such as this maybe?

I have a bag similar to this, also from Kenneth Cole, and if I need to bring my dance shoes to work because I am practicing right after, they fit in it... You can still have a small handbag that you keep your wallet in, etc. separate or you can use this type of bag as a carry-all, like I do. I would never carry a canvas tote around with me to work... Just wouldn't fit with whatever else I am wearing.

great part about living in Indiana...I can be as tacky as i like...i use a large backpack...or my capezio pull tote which was the most awesome comp gift ever courtesy of wisconsin dancesport

When I have to haul stuff, I'd leave it in the car.

Of course when I worked at the studio, no one batted an eye if I was hauling a shoe bag and a backpack full of clothes aroud.

Oh.my.god! $2300+ for a purse?!?! Oh my god!

We are so clearly from different planets... :D

Hahah...... I can feel your pain. Just bought a huge designer bag and love it so far. Put everything that I can and carry it in the city. No more shoulder pain either. ;)

It's an entirely different issue when you live and work in a city and use public transportation.

Indeed. Especially when your commute is long enough that once you leave home for the day, that's it until you finish rehearsing at night.

For that reason, I don't like leather bags for my dance gear -- they weigh too much even when empty.

check out your local puma store... they have chic large bags. i've got a large black one with white piping, sorta like a sexy bowling bag. and i've got a few smaller ones from them. have used all for dance gear at one point.

any of them would translate to evening.

there are quite a few bags here that would make for fun, stylish totes that would translate to after-work, after-studio time...
