Are there any books or manuals or know-hows on DVDs how to teach kids and juniors to become really good in ballroom and latin? Anything on the market?

DVIDA has a group class syllabus manual. That's the only thing I know that comes close to what you're looking for.

As WG said, DVIDA has books and videos. I'd go for the videos if the kids are learning steps. But they won't help you be competitive or be really good, at all. Just like adults, they need private training to be competitive.

Elle, based on the kinds of things you've said in the past about your views of the state of ballroom & latin competitive dancing in the US when it comes to pre-teens, juniors, and youths, I'd suggest you try to find "Dance to Your Maximum." I can't spell the name of the guy who wrote it, but his first name is Max and his last name starts with a W. The book should be easy to find, though. The book talks about the non-technique parts of dancesport training, and is aimed at adults. However, a good teacher should be able to distill Max's information into a form that kids will understand and take in.

As far as the technique parts go, kids learn in part by copying their teachers, so it's key to find the best possible teachers.

The book Laura's referencing, Dance to Your Maximum, is byMaximiliaan Winkelhuis ;)

The kids classes in the UK, are based on the syllabus of the soc. of the teacher .( all pretty much the same )

Generaly starts with W-- closed changes, nat-- rev turns and build from there .
In latin-- Cha is probably the fave. for the very young ones (6,7,8, ) and a very basic Rumba as a 2nd dance.

The problem with kids classes in the UK, they are nearly always geared to medal class standard, so the social side gets virtually ignored ( I guess that is our social ! )
