Bored and don't know what to do?

This guy, a painter and decorator, got bored whilst waiting for the phone to ring calling him for jobs. So, he decided to paint his house. From the pictures, it does look amazing. Not sure I could live in a house like that though. I prefer natural 'blank' walls.

A painter and decorator has taken the unusual step of turning his hand to renaissance and baroque when sprucing up his council house in Sussex.

Robbie Burns, from Brighton, has spent years painting his own examples of the likes of Botticelli and Caravaggio over every wall and ceiling of his home.
He said he decided "to give it a go" after looking at renaissance books.
"I've never been to art school, but just gave it a try and found I could produce something half reasonable." His work over the last few years has included copying from art books Filippo Lippi's The Annunciation, and Sandro Botticelli's The Madonna of the Book.

Perhaps. But, would be interesting to see if after this article, whether his phone will be constantly ringing or whether he will still have time to be bored!

I liked the story and shared it because:

- the whole effect looks amazing even though I couldn't live in it either, AND - he did something constructive with his downtime

wow - hardly looks like it was downtime. constructive, indeed. i love to see that kind of creativity.

I'd love to live in a house like that. Except with my snootiness I'd be picking over the errors in his figures. I'd like to live in a house with that much paint on the walls, but with no figures... more architectural trompe l'oeuil.

Hey, you could still commission him and ask him to leave out the people! Artistic licence is everything!!!

 A lot of jobs tend to be plain walls or wallpapering.

Maybe after this article, more people may go for trompe l'oeuil, like thespina13 likes. Or maybe, Madonna might see it and hire him to do one of her houses ;)
