If one's disposable income is a substantial proportion of someone's livelihood and exchanged for something that is not intrinsically valuable for survival, while another's total income is inadequate for basic needs, then one certainly is wealthy compared to another.
 
from a moderator's perspective a number of things are in play and none of them are bad things...I liken it to the life span of a sitcom....nothing remains in it's prime forever... I would echo that some of the decline is due to the fact that many of the most active members have since moved past their most active time as dancers and have access to one another via other social media.... as well as what has been stated about us having an existing thread on almost everything....we as staff will periodically revive revive old threads or introduce new ones...but maintaining a constant presence on the site requires a good deal of time and dedication from an all volunteer staff and/or members who care enough to do the work...if you want a more active df push through your apathy and be more active... that's the work that those of us with over 10k posts did to keep the site alive...as for arguments...unless dance related, I for one don't miss the petty arguments at all...but with regard to relationship, support, fun and dance related questions or dsagreements...if you build it, they will come...it's a big job
 
I remember we also used to have a thread every time one of the big competitions rolled around - British Open, UK, Internationals, Worlds, and a lot of the big American ones too.
 
Hey, so to help with the boredom you could have joined the 'other' event going on in the hotel at the Chicago DanceSport Challenge. What we thought was a Halloween and/or scary convention turned out to be a full-fledged bdsm convention so we found out....

I've had that experience -- the BDSM event at the same time as dance event. Epically weird.

We are WWE fans in my household, both of us have been since childhood and it was one of the things we had in common that brought us together in the first place when we met.

I maintain that WWE and ballroom dance are not all that different (hence my interest in both):
* Flashy costumes
* Music
* Set of commonly known/understood moves/figures that partners do with each other
* Larger than life personalities
* For women, makeup looks largely the same across both disciplines (all of them wear false eyelashes).
* Increasing focus on athleticism, the bar is way higher than it was 30 years ago
 
I agree with Purr. I've not been reading or posting much the past few months ( not much to say - life and dance proceed ), but it does seem that traffic on DF has fallen off considerably. Maybe long-time posters have just gotten to the saturation point on common topics. I know I have.
