Boyko hair and makeup

Hmmm, I will put a good word in here for him when it comes to short hair. I thought he did a good job on mine. I was pleased. And Sarah also made me look lovely, also.... but I am not sure if she is still with him.

You do have to check their schedule and email quickly when they open up bookings, and you have to be prepared to take the time they give you without a lot of negotiation. Suzanne has always been prompt in getting back to me.

You have to like and be able to wear the Boyko style. I didn't realize it until a hair stylist, that does wonderful ballroom hair, pointed it out to me. The Boyko style is not good for me, but that is just me.

I'm with you. It's just not a good style for me.

I recently found another terrific hair/makeup vendor who hits the sweet spot between outrageous and elegant, reasonably priced, responsive to email, fast, reassuring about all my worries. Will post in http://www.dance-forums.com/threads/great-experiences-with-ballroom-dance-vendors.45786/ about them.

Boyko is an amazing artist. Everyone on his team has been great too- I've had Sylvia, Olly, Tessa.... but it's a bonus if Boyko himself is there... I think what matters the most to me is their professionalism. If I see them as the vendor choice, that's who I'm going with- I have seen great short hairstyles he has done too.

I've had Boyko work on me twice in the past six months, and I've been really pleased because that trademark "Boyko look," I didn't get. You know: hair loops and swirls? What I got was similar but different, because everyone's been duplicating that look, so now he's altering his style a bit. I did my own hair for years and years, but I've worked Boyko into my budget because I've been so pleased. Not to mention, the man is hilarious!

Boyko all the way! I have medium long hair and always have it done half up and half down. He always does something different with the 'up' part. He is so organized and professional, polite and funny... I've had Sylvia and Ollie as a makeup artist, and I like them both!

I've had Boyko and his team do my hair and makeup for several comps and have always been thrilled with the results. Believe it was about $180 for both services.

bump. I've done my own hair for years now, because i have frizzy, very curly, fine hair - which is like the kiss of death for stylists. I've had horrible horrible cuts and styles done to my hair, so I rarely trust anyone to do my hair. Like - if you throw gel all over my hair, it's just going to activate the curl and waste all that time I spent straightening it, darn it. however, I'm looking to have a different style for my next comp and the options are boyko or glamour puss/lisa bentley. Looks like both are well liked, but can anyone hear speak to how/if they've had experiences with them and naturally curly hair? If i'm going to pay for a style, I would expect it to be more than the basic latin bun - finger waves are my fave. But I doubt that my hair will allow that.

Anyone have experiences to share?

I have naturally curly hair and I straighten it every time I work with a stylist. I don't think any of them used gel - just a lot of hairspray and combing. Sometimes I wince when I think about the stress on my hair (the straightening and styling) but this is the life I signed up for and it's much more stressful to do my own styling. I've had Boyko and his assistant Jenny do my hair. Both were great.
