It's the worst and people seriously underestimate the importance of it. I was doing an application on a neighbor, who is an actress, and as she saw me sanitizing my hands and spraying my palettes and brushes with alcohol, she went, "OMG you're legit!" I was sitting there thinking, "You're on set all the time...do your artists not do this?"
Then I found out in my classes that one of my classmates used dirty brushes on one of our other classmates and the girl actually got such a bad eye infection that she had to go on antibiotics and couldn't have makeup applications done for weeks. At that point, I was big on hygiene just out of habit, but hearing that sealed the deal and actually made it super important for me. It is serious.
