I dont know how to dance and from what I hear this furom can teach but i dont really understand the lessons. Can anybody help me out?I need to learn how to slowdance for prom, and dance to hip-hop and spanish music at clubs.I have never danced before and I really need to learn so I can go to prom and so that I can go to the club with my girl.Im tired of going to partys and not dancing and just sit there or go an smoke when all the girls are on the dance floor.I need to be grindin an all that good stuff.

Well, first of all, CONGRATULATIONS for breaking the cycle of idiocy, at least on learning how to dance for prom NOW instead of two days before.

Secondly, the search feature can teach you better than we can by reposting all of the things we already have (if we post again, we'll lose the gist of what was said in older posts, and probably confuse ourselves!)

Thirdly- why waste your time grinding when you could be learning a wonderful dance like salsa? Far sexier. It isn't just about bumping some girls butt with your crotch. It's about sensual movements and masculine style.

Fourth- smoking isn't any cooler than fat girls like me. I gotta try to watch my weight for my health, you should watch your smokin' for yours. Half dead hacking, coughing guys do not get womenfolk (unless they're Hef, but he's rich, so that's an exception).

Just look around, and check the sticky at the top of this forum. It'll help you a lot if you just have the patience and time to read it through.

Good luck- and look at the bright side- it's ages till prom; you can be a pro by then! :D

Welcome to the Forums, Hypnotiq!

In addition to what macha's comments, you may also want to try taking some structured hip hop lessons through a local dance studio. It's far easier to learn dance skills by being in-person, face-to-face with someone rather than reading about it online.

You may also want to check out some dance instrutional or workout videos for a few moves. For some video suggestions, check out www.dancersdreamland.com Select "Movie Madness" from the top navigation bar, and then select either of the links under "Workout Videos."

You may also want to visit this site's sister forum (see link in signature below) dedicated to non-partner dancing. There's also an entire section dedicated to hip hop.

All the best!

Damn that dont really help me you know what im sayin???????
(I dont smoke ciggs So its not like a all the time thing.)
(Im tryn to be grindin on the dance floor not the salsa it looks to hard)

Ok, it really sounds as if you're just wanting overnight miracle, quick-fix, free lessons-in-a-box. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry.

We don't do that here (We? They- ). We (they) are a dance forum, not a telecourse dance-camp. Either have the motivation to read the information already provided, or pay us to be your tutors and instructors to personally tailor the information to suit your aptitude.

Why would you ask people who don't even grind? Look around carefully and see what people in this habitat are doing and discussing. Would you go to a brain surgery forum and ask them how to raise cattle?

The dance you aspire to learn is very different from the dances many/most dance here, so our advice to you might not even be as good as just coughing up the money, going to your local dance studio, plunking it down, and taking lessons from a professional, face-to-face teacher who can assess you and tailor your instruction to you.

Na im not thinkn of doing it overnight but it would be nice.and the guides dont really help me and i cant find the grinding guide.

Welcome to DF!

I would really suggest you to take a class locally. There are a lot of useful information on DF but it's very difficult to learn how to dance from books - you can imitate the steps, but it's hard to tell whether or not you're doing them correctly. The next best alternative is to perhaps get a copy of video/DVD where you can learn the moves. Visual aids are way better than textbooks, especially in dancing.
