Carolina Shag Music

If there are any fans out there of "Beach Music" I am including instructions on how to stream two stations into Winamp and Windows media player.

The term Carolina shag came from Carolina Beach, NC, however Hurricane Hazel, in 1957, did away with Carolina Beach and all the dancers and music went to Ocean Drive, SC (now North Myrtle Beach) and to the Pavillion at Myrtle Beach (torn down in 2007).

The music and the dance survives. (randyandsue.com/Help_and_FAQ.htm)

Here is the music.

1. Southern Soul (southernsoul.com) streams at 128Kbs which is MP3 quality.

First download Winamp (winamp.com/player), it's free.

Stream the following url in Winamp:

southernsoul.com:8004/;stream.nsv

Directions - In Winamp menu Select File - Then Open URL - Paste the above link into box - Click OK and you are in business.

2. 94.9 the Surf (949thesurf.com/component/option,com_easygb/Itemid,76/) streams at 49Kbs

Stream the following url in Windows Media Player:

wmc2.liquidcompass.cc/WVCO

Directions - Click WMP menu - Select Play - Then Open URL - paste above link into box - click OK and you are in business.

Hope you like it.

Just some additional clarification, commercial links are allowed only in the Events, Ads, and Websites forums. However, if they are of an informational (rather than promotional) nature, it is permissible to post them here, provided the link has been deactivated by removing the www, .com, etc.

Welcome to Dance Forums, nipsip! Thank you for sharing the music. I enjoyed checking out the 94.9 the Surf station.

Clairification

The http:// was removed from the streaming urls. There is no www associated with those urls.
