CCM's Having Fun at OSB Diary

I have some exciting news that has nothing to do with OSB, but happened while we were here: my 6-year-old daughter lost her first tooth! She is ecstatic. She and my Mom are making cupcakes in honor of this very special occasion.

Spent most of the day today watching amateur latin in Exhibition Hall C. CCP took tons of photos. (Thank goodness he has a big flash, as it is fairly dark in there.) The two most exciting and most contested events were the Latin J6 and the Amateur Under 21.

J6
1--Nikita Malakhov and Sarah Gleyzer 1/1/1/4/3
2--Jason Dai and Patrycja Golak 3/2/3/1/2
3--Sergey Golubtson and Alina Iougai 2/4/2/3/1
4--Stan Faynerman and Daniella Karagach
5--Kiki Nyemchek and Nesya Sereboro
6--Gregory Grzymek and Magda Fialek

Have to mention that Sergey Golubtson was wearing a blue-green suit with a black tank underneath, a very different look than anyone else on the floor. Couldn't decide if I liked it or not, but it definitely stood out!

Under 21
1--Alon Gilin and Anastasia Trutneva
2--Vlad Kurchevsky and Sandra Rucinski
3--Couple 876
4--Jason Dai and Patrycja Golak
5--Nikita Malakhov and Sarah Gleyzer
6--Stan Faynerman and Daniella Karagach

At the very end of the afternoon, caught a bit of the first round of the World Pro-Am events, including syncopationator in the A event, mamboqueen in the B event, and Nik competing with a student in the C event.

CCP and I are both somewhat congested. He doesn't feel good. I feel fine, but my ear never fully popped after our plane flight last night. Bummer.

Hope to pop in at the DF get together, then off to the Friday night session. Wish, wish, wish that we had ringside seats, so CCP could photograph--we're back too far for the flash--but happy just to be going!

I was very excited to see Erminio Stefano and Luana Conte are dancing tonight!!! Also really looking forward to seeing Eugene and Maria, and of course Nik and Natasha!

Well, a little change of plans last night.

CCP is really not feeling well, so we wound up skipping the DF get together so he could rest a little more and to cut down on the walking. (Our hotel is right by Exhibit Hall C, where the Fri and Sat night stuff is this year. We're at the Hampton.)

This was the WRONG call. I should have just left CCP in the room to sleep, because he only made it through a round of the Int Standard and a round of the Amer Rhythm before heading back. He says he's feeling chills and muscle aches. Oh, and he just woke up and said he feels dizzy. Yes, he has had his flu shot.

To state the obvious, competing on Sunday is probably a 50-50 proposition at best. I mean, he says he wants to rest up and do it, but right now, I can't see it happening. And that's absolutely fine. It's just a bummer, because this will be the third time in five years we've had to scratch due to him being ill...and we don't compete that often. (This year, I think we've just done MAC, USA Dance Nationals, and Yankee Classic...and then I did Capital pro-am w/Nik.)

I really enjoyed watching last night :), though, even after I lost my viewing buddy :( .

Has no one else posted that?

Pro Standard:
Gherman Mustuc and Iveta Lukosiute
Linas Koreiva and Liene Apale
Mikhail Avdeev and Anastasia Muravyeva
Igor Litvinov and Yulia Ivleva
Urs Geisenhainer and Agnes Kazmierczak
Erminio Stefano and Luana Conte (woot, woot!)

I cannot do the Pro Latin, as they didn't announce that until post Theater Arts, and it was midnight by the time they started Theater Arts, and I felt some obligation to check in on my sick spouse. Here is the semi, though:

Gherman Mustuc and Iveta Lukosiute
Vaidotas Skimelis and Jurga Pupelyte
Nikolai Shpakov and Tatiana Banko
Delyan Terziev and Boriana Deltcheva
Pavlo Barsuk and Anna Trebunskaya
Jan Paulovich and Iryna Pinihina
Marcus Johnson and Yuki Haraguchi
Nikolai Pilipenchuk and Natasha Skorikova (YAY!)
Eugene Katsevman and Maria Manusova (YAY!)
Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagoruychenko
Andre Paramonov and Ms. Natalie
Tomasz Lewandowski and Izabela Lewandowski

I'd guess based on previous results that the final is Cocchi/Zagoruychenko, Katsevman/Manusova, Barsuk/Trebunskaya, Skimelis/Pupelyte, Terziev/Deltcheva, and the Paramonovs...or possibly the Lewandowskis. That would not be my preferred final, but that is my guess.

I think it could also be Gherman and Iveta .....annnnndddd Nikolai and Natasha!

I do and I'm happy to share them.

Pro Rhythm Final:
Jose DeCamps and Joanna Zacharewicz
Steve Vasco and Joanna Siekierska
Decho Kraev and Bree Watson
Felipe Telona, Jr. and Carolina Orlorsky-Telona
Michael Neil and Danielle Wilson
Matthew Hauer and Karen Hauer

Karen Hauer was wearing an orange pants suit that I thought looked really great.

Carolina was wearing an emerald green sexy number.

Joanna Z was wearing a grape purple color, and Jose's shirt matched it. Jose can wear a color like that because he is so masculine.

Semi also included:
Jeremy Gatlin and Anna Harwood
Ilya Reyzin and Amanda Reyzin
Hayk Arshakian and Albina Habrle
Joe Howard and Leisa Howard
Jason Daly and Seveta Zlochevskaya
Edgar Osorio and Mirela Prohaska

Off to watch some amateur standard, which I just realized is starting approximately right now! And somehow I didn't pre-purchase a Sat matinee ticket. Hopefully I have the cash. (I will mention for approximately the 400th time how much I wish they took credit cards!)

Thanks, CCM!!! So pumped that Steve & Joanna and the Hauers made the finals :D Also pumped that Michael & Danielle are there once more...hopefully this year they will pull out a better finish than 6th place...

Wow, what a tough field! I would love to see all of these dancers on TV!

So sorry about this! One of the competitors from our studio had to withdraw from a few heats because of illness, and they were complaining about how dry the air was in the hotel , which made everyone feel yucky.

Hope he feels better and you are able to compete.

By any chance would you know who made the pro Smooth final?

Today, I got to see samina, elisedance, Natalka, and Nik dancing in the pro-am standard.

Also got to see Joe, skwiggy, Egoist, Ithink, kitty, Katarzyna, and stargazer's kids in the amateur standard.

Got to see mamboqueen and syncopationator in the pro-am latin yesterday.

So I'm getting to see a lot of DFers perform. It makes me smile.

Also ran into the wonderful Larinda, though no puppy pal.

I also am going to 'fess up that I just bought a $65 black tank top with "Ohio Star Ball" bedazzled on it from the Designs to Shine booth. It felt like the right thing to do.

Let the mockery commence.

Pro Smooth Final:
John Selby and Irina Chalkevitch
Mikhai Zharinov and Galina Detkina
Mazen Hamza and Magdalena Piekarz
Tomasz Mielnicki and J. T. Thomas
Mayo Alanen and Lisa Vogel
Jonathan Roberts and Valentina

I know two of the other couples in the semi were
Christian Lange and Yulia Mincheva
Vladimir Kosarev and Vera Kosarev

...I'm sure someone else can fill in the rest.

CCP is not coming tonight. Still feeling too crummy. But I have scored some Nyquil and some more Sudafed. They were all out of Dayquil, so apparently there's a lot going around.

I'm hanging in there. Still definitely a bit congested, but the Sudafed seems to be working for me.

Must remember to get Southwest boarding passes promptly at 6:50!

Forgot to mention that in the pro-am room, I was sitting next to a non-dancer who confessed to me that she and her Mom to this just to check out the hot guys. :) She said that she had gotten her picture with Maks Chmerkovskiy and that now she can die happy.

Made sense to me!
