Cha cha shines and patterns?

I'm interested to hear recommendations for good artists/DVDs for cha-cha shines and partnerwork. Realllly good stuff. I hear Tito and Tamara are super hot... do you agree? Any others?

In my experiences, people who've been trained in ballroom do the most basic moves in Cha Cha and take my breath away, along with the rest of the crowd that gathers. It's not the shines, it's the movement, intention and grace with which the moves are done that define it.

Perhaps the same goes for salsa, but how often do you see a graceful salsa dance as opposed to a triple spin? Perhaps every now and then on iMambo watching Magna? :)

Perhaps it's just a realization on my part, but once one has a small library of salsa moves, only then does one realize how really useless most of them are and that it's always back to basics with dance :)

You appear to be coming from a position, of little or no true knowledge about salsa.
You actually could nor be farther from the truth. It may be due to the lack of " true " latin clubs in your locale (? ) .

Any dance style can be polished to give the effect you seem to be demanding, and thats not a bad thing. Methinks you need a lot more exposure to the finer points .

Perhaps you all remember salseralaura's FANTASTIC solo cha cha?

I would love to become comfortable enough with what my feet can do, so they can punctuate the music like hers did. I woul dlike ot become much more familiar with the cha cha vocabulary. Aside from listening to a ton of cha-cha, I'd like more movement ideas... only so I can teach my body what is possible with this glorious dance.

By the way... I thoroughly enjoy simple, dynamic cha-chas. I got thunderous applause at a wedding this saturday doing nothing terribly complex with my partner. I know the beauty of elegance and form. Not a stranger to it. But what I wouldn't GIVE to learn what to do when the music has a BAM or some thrust or a wind-up and some drama... aaaa. (I think I'm a cha-cha addict even moreso than salsa... but don't tell anyone).

When Seaon Bristol taught some workshops in my area, he taught some great cha-cha shines and styling. I believe he has a new DVD with cha-cha shines on it. I will warn you that others have reported that it takes an inordinately long time to receive their dvds after ordering them. Also, my DVDs are DVD-R, so I plan to make backup copies of them just in case. I'm not sure if the new DVDs are regular DVDs or not. Hope this helps.
