well its getting to be that time of hear again. time to gear up for Christmas showcases (if you haven't already).

does anyone have some suggestions for good ballroom Christmas songs?

Suggestions, anyone? Hmm. I think there was a thread last year around this time, but no one replied. Maybe I should google? what a novel idea.

Ok, my brain is really stretched to the limit here, but it seems like I have a vague memory about dancing a foxtrot to "Winter Wonderland." I think it was the version sung by Amy Grant??

Oh boy. I think I need to go rest my noggin now.

All I want for christmas is you- Mariah Carey-You can do a swing to it.

A few of my favorite things- Lorrie Morgan(?)- Viennese Waltz.

Silver bells- A waltz maybe?

Yup. It's a waltz. So is "Don't Save It All for Christmas." Celine Dion? Now That's What I Call Christmas (the first CD set) has a couple dance tunes.

Man With a Bag - LeAnn Womack - REALLY SLOW QS/Triple Swing/Lindy. ;-)
Sleigh Ride - Ella Fitzgerald - "Bouncy" Foxtrot (a little zippy)
All I want For Christmas - Toby Keith - Two Step
Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town - Bing Crosby w/Andrews Sisters - Balboa
Winter Wonderland - Amy Grant - Slow Foxtrot
Boogie Woogie Santa Claus - Lionel Hampton - Lindy
Jingle Bell Rock - George Straight - really slow Swing?/WCS

All these songs are on the Dillard's Christmas Collection 2004 (picked it up yesterday). :-) It was a MERE $7 and the proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House. :)

Cool. And you can't beat the price. I think Dillards is only in the southern US, but they do have a website, right? 8) Think I'll :google:

Nope. I was wrong. It's not only in the south. There are some stores in northern California and Ohio, etc. But it's not in every state by any means. Whatever. Yes, the CD is available for $7 on their website. I just entered the search terms Christmas CD and it popped up. 8)

ok... so there are some good foxtrots, waltz's, quicksteps and swings. how about some latin tunes?

any Christmas:
Cha cha's?
Rumba's?
Samba's?

there are a lot of good country Christmas songs. i'll have to go through a few albums and see if there's anything.

The Jose Felciano version is on the fast side for a cha cha. I did a Christmas showcase to that once -- we used it as a rumba, and even so, the spins felt fast!

come on now... some of you out there have to be doing some Christmas routines or have to run a Christmas party at your studio.

there's gotta be more Christmas music out there that's "ballroomy" (will work in a ballroom studio)

how about Christmas albums?

Very smooth jazz trio, very nice arrangements of classic Christmas music (she has 3 Xmas albums, not sure if they share some songs or not). Some nice Foxtrot's and at least one Waltz. Her website provides audio samples.

She might be a good source for non-seasonal stuff as well...
