Actually this is how my 75 year old dad walks but without the musicality; small steps and not getting anywhere fast, but he doesn't have any choice; its just what old age has done to him.

Mario, sometimes you sound like a teenager that's just discovered bump and grind!

Neither close embrace OR salon style have vast numbers of figures. The fundamentals of both styles are always going to be the walk and the giro.

Being a "dandy" has got nothing to do with it. If by which you mean people's style of dressing. That depends on the person not the way they choose to dance.
