DDR.....

I admit it. I'm SO totally hooked on DDR it isn't funny. I have started to analyze my CD collection terms of DDR tunes and how I could maybe write a program that would let me make up my own choreography and insert my own MP3s into my Xbox to dance to them....

But I digress.

A little too close. Ahem....

Here's the deal. After Christmas, I weighed myself. Bad move but what the hey, right? I found out that I had ballooned up to MORE than my highest ever weight (even more than when i was a big fat preggo). Not only that, I had broken my "record" by a whopping 4.5 pounds. So demoralizing.

Well.....

Last week I got a used copy of DDR at Game Stop. It was free after we bought two other gamese, so I sprung for the cheapo dance mat (Game Stop brand) for $14.99. And every night (except last night) we've been having a DDR-Fest.

It has this WICKED COOL workout mode. You tell it how much you weigh and how many calories/how long you want to go for and pick your song and get with the beat.

I lost 5.5 pounds my friends. Yeppers... That's right! 5.5 pounds in a week thanks to the almighty dance pad/fresh "air" steps/groovy beats. I may never leave the house again. Must memorize all steps... must memorize all steps....

Must get back to DDR....

I read a story somewhere about some teenager who lost something like 60 pounds playing DDR. He just loved the game and played and played and played. It proves the point that the best exercise is one that you LOVE to do so that you'll keep doing and doing it and not only burn calories but also get the positive feedback of enjoyment while doing it.

I have an Xbox and a PS2. I have DDR Ultramix for Xbox. We have a moratorium on anything for PS2 unless it belings to a certain family of games. Metal Gear, anything by SquareEnix (Final Fantasy much), that sort of thing.

Xbox rules! Their online service is WAY better than Sony's. I can't wait to get on Xbox Live with DDR. Must practice first.....

Congrats on the weight loss. It seems that dancing Momy is using her xbox for the game BrookeErin.

huh....i have a PS2 (well, it's my brothers), and we also have DDR and the dance mat. I love DDR, and I have to agree that it is a GREAT workout! but I have never gotten really into video game that much, so I only play DDR once so often. Mostly when other kids are at our house, and they want me to "show" them how to do it. Maybe, I should start doing it daily, as I am on a diet as well! Just for the record, I dropped 7 pounds since last Thursday!

Props for you!

I used to play DDR a lot back in about 4 years ago. Everytime I did it, it was at least 4 hours non-stop. By the time I finished, I was really to drop dead on the mat. It's great stuff. I loved the part where I finally got used to a certain pattern in the dance and got perfects for all the hits. I lost about 15 pounds back then doing that stuff. Now the real dancing is my favorite :D

I don't suppose they make it for Game Cube??? I'll get it for my son, invite all his 9 year old friends over and make them dance!! And I'll be sure to have the video camera going.

Seriously...I'd like to try it!

Erm...
What IS that DDR thing, guys?

DDR is Dance Dance Revolution. There is a mat that is connected to a game console. Based on what you see on the screen you step on different places on the mat. For every correct step your points increase.

That all sounds like a lot more fun than those old Jane Fonda (etc.) aerobics tapes I used to watch and exercise along with many years ago!

I didn't know about DDR, for me DDR was something like Deutsche Demokratische Republik.
With Simon you had to memorize the sequence of colours. I bet it's not the case with the (present) DDR.
