Competition dress choice; heel height; re-wearing dresses; & salsa/mambo question

I mean look at these! Impress nails couture collection for the win. And they stayed on better than expected. (I wear impress nails literally constantly- the short ones barely come off but their longer ones sometimes pop off easier)

It seems to me that Larinda's comments quoted above are in regard to fishnets vs. bare legs...I wasn't thinking of going without tights at all, just worried that fishnets might be a bit too peek-a-boo for imperfect skin. This discussion has given me courage to look into it.

And fancy nails like scullystwin42 is sporting would distract anyone's attention from small imperfections, anyway! ;) Love them!!

OMG, this made me literally lol. He used to shave, but i don't think he likes the way his face looks as he's aged. :p. I don't mind it, and as far as i know, no judges have mentioned it. He doesn't compete professionally anymore, so he keeps the beard. but omg, your comment. dying here.

He is very handsome. Does he have a baby face when shaven? Some men prefer not to look too young, I've known a few who maintained facial hair to achieve a more mature look, and so as not to be treated like some young teenage kid.

Has he tried the stubble look?
Hmmm i think so. I do not get into his personal grooming, as we argue enough already. He's actually very particular about overall grooming for both of us, so if he got feedback that it wasn't acceptable, he'd change it. i mean for example, i have a new dress, but he doesn't want me on the floor unless all the accessories are fully ready and i'm completely "put together" - no adding stuff each comp. Since it's such a big part of it, i don't mind that type of feedback. I mean, i pick my dresses because I'm paying for them, but if there are little things i can do to fit the overall look, i will.

As for fishnets, he doesn't mind me not wearing them if the band shows through mesh. As long as i'm tanned to death on my legs.

personally, i like the trend of more guys' facial hair on the floor - i think it's really nice on pro smooth guys. It's not for everybody, but i like it. But i am also aware it's not totally accepted by everyone.

I think one issue for me is the fact that his hair is highlighted. The beard itself is very dark, but the hair on top is very light. If he's gonna have a beard, he should highlight it too.

do not go with "tights".
fishnet or bare but not "tights".
I know that sometimes (in the UK for example) pantyhose are referred to as "tights" - does your advice still apply: fishnets or nothing? Is there any type/ style/ color/ texture of pantyhose besides fishnets which might be acceptable at a comp?

(I fully intend to wear suntan-colored professional weight fishnets if/when I compete.)

Tights and panty hose have a weirdly fake look to them, like plastic barbie legs. And panty hose often have a line at your thighs where they change thickness/density. I suppose pantyhose are better than bare but ... not really.

I assume pantyhose would also be a bit slippery inside the shoe, whereas fishnets or barefoot provides more traction between the shoe and the foot. Even if the shoe fits as snugly as it should, I think this could still be an issue.

What, if anything, do those of you who wear fishnets wear over the fishnets to prevent thigh chafe? I use Jockey "Skimmies Slipshorts". I'm trying to get a broader perspective for somebody else. Thank you!
