Competitions in California?

Are there any kind of annually held Dancesport competitions in California? I have never seen any except on TV, and I would like to go to one sooner or later.

In California we are very fortunate to have lots of annuals Dancesport competitions...

The ones that are left for this year includes:

The Desert Classic July 13th-15th (Palm Springs, CA)
The International Grand Ball July 27 - 29 (San Francisco, CA)
Embassy Ball August 30th - September 2nd (Irvine, CA)

Of the three Embassy will probably have the best showing as far as competing professionals and amateurs making it the best for spectating. Lots of my friends are going to Palm Desert (party!!) so that will be fun for sure.

There are a couple more to add to Evaluck's list:

Nevada Star Ball, August 16-19 (Nevada - not quite SoCal, but close enough)
Golden State Championships, October 10-14 (Newport Beach, CA)
Pacific Dancesport Championships, November 2-4 (Los Angeles, CA)
California Star Ball, November 23-25 (Irvine, CA)

and
Holiday Dancesport Classic, mid-December (Las Vegas) - is fabulous too

San Francisco Autumn Dance Classic, October 19-21st.
City Lights Ball, sometime in March in San Francisco
USA Dance Southwest Regional DanceSport Championships, in Anaheim on February 2nd.
Holiday Ball, near SFO airport right before New Year's
San Francisco Open, next April

There are a LOT of competitions in California, you certainly have your pick!

City Lights and SF Open changed dates. CLB is now in January, SF Open is in March. Best to check www.ndca.org for a list of all the NDCA comps and their respective dates. Click on Events, then I prefer to see everything on one page by clicking on the year link at the top.

I don't think anyone posted California Open. That's usually my first comp of the year. However I have found that these last two years the comp has been getting smaller and Embassy has been growing bigger. Doubt they have anything to do with each others change in popularity but if I had to choose I would definitely make sure that I made it to Embassy. I never miss that comp.

USA Dance California State DanceSport Championships in early November in the SF Bay area.

This year (2008), it's this weekend!
