Comps With Big Latin Presence

I know we have a thread already on big comps somewhere, but as I'm putting together my comp wish list for my new Pro for next year, I was wondering if maybe there are some comps out there that have a fairly big Latin presence we don't discuss much because they are not the main big comps in general.

So, if you had to put together a list of 10 comps with Latin in mind, what would be your list?

(Incidentally, I finally feel like I may have a shot at going to Gateway and Yuletide finally. Neither are very big on Latin I know, but I have wanted to attend these comps for years and was always vetoed by the studio managers. I'm hopeful next year will be different, because my new Pro is the studio manager/owner, and he seems open to ideas).

Manhattan just finished and has their results available in DanceComp, Latin B started from a quarter final I believe Donnie and Sabrina from dancing queens were there

Yes, Manhattan is pretty big for Latin. Only I haven't heard anything great about the location or the comp on general. If you have anything to add to that, please do.

Also, I was wondering if anyone had any info on Constitution State in October. I attended Paragon last year almost at the same time and in the same city (Stamford, CT), and I loved the location being so close to the train to NYC, but I really wasn't crazy about the hotel itself (and while people were friendly at the comp, I wasn't crazy about that, either). What was your experience at Construction State, if you had any?

I find the look and feel of Tri-State, Constitution and Paragon to be very similar, Latin is the only style I don’t dance so don’t have any visibility into the size of that group, but I see that Constitution has scheduled a similar amount of time for Latin as Smooth and Rhythm

I danced the Ball at San Francisco Open last April and they had a live percussionist. I was bouncing with enthusiasm in the on deck area and couldn’t wait to get on the floor. Was fantastic to dance to. Even warming up on the carpet was super fun.

Sounds awesome! Maybe I should see how big their Latin ProAm heats were.

I agree that Tri-State, Constitution and Paragon are similar..."medium-sized" comps with good good latin judges attracting good latin dancers. The heats are smaller (semis rather than QF's for open level)...but the level of dancing is high. The atmosphere is generally warmer/friendlier than the bigger comps, where the atmosphere can be somewhat "charged".
