Consent To Touch

Well, most people understand that dancing entails a certain amount of intimacy, but it is "fake" intimacy. The kind that has no strings and lasts only as long as the dance. There is safety in that kind of intimacy. I dare say that most girls would be very wary of a guy that tried to touch them (in the ways that dancing sometimes entails) with no preamble or introduction.

Dancing = expectation of intimacy

Chance meeting on sidewalk does NOT = expectation of intimacy.

Depends on your culture. Latin people tend to be more touchy feely in general, as opposed to gringos and their 2.5 meter personal spaces.

Well, I'm not Latina, but I don't have a 2.5m personal space. We're pretty touchy feely... But there's no way I'd let someone I didn't know touch me in the ways I've been touched while dancing.

you not only get close during salsa... just take your average singles/college bar and all the grinding being done.

you wouldn't expect that type of interaction between strangers on your typical everyday street corner or shopping mall.

I agree that Latinos are often more comfortable touching, but that's too generalized--I'm white and require little personal space, whereas I've met many Latinos who require more. And don't call me gringo. :eyebrow:

Er, wasn't this on another thread? I answered "The person(girl) is expecting the move, thus there is no tension like there would be say you two meet at a bus stpop or something. (Gee have Ihad alcohol or WHAT!?!)

It was mentioned in another thread - the one on cost of salsa classes. I guess the OP decided the topic warrants its own discussion.
