Cooking - Part 3 (How spicy are you?)

Allegedly, a lady can tell how "inventive" a guy is, by the spices/herbs/seasoning in his kitchen cupboard. I have not researched this :( but, do the ladies agree? Guys?

Before moving house, I always rundown my kitchen supplies. Less packing (!) how much space a packet of herbs takes up, is not the issue! But, I just like - 'new home' 'new supplies'.

Yesterday, I finally managed to go to the supermarket and stockup. Bought a few new seasonings  and the fridge is bulging  just have to be home now to actually do something with it. My brother tells the other family members that he 'gets drunk' staying with me because the cupboards are always bare  playing on the word beer

Hmm, personally, while I have waaaaay too many spices in my cupboard, it's more because I like trying lots of different recipes than being particularly creative. Sure, I'll occasionally add a different spice to a dish if I feel like it's missing something, but I believe that I've, for the most part, narrowed down which spices go best in which dishes.

During my last move, I was contemplating tossing a lot of my spices, but since each bottle runs around $5 each  I decided it would be more of an effort restocking my cupboard rather than buying new.

Are we talking the same thing? Why do you refrigerate your spices? Hmm...

I just keep on hand the "basic" spices/herbs

Rosemary
Sage
Paprika
Chicken Salt
Cajun spice
Moroccan spice

Gee cant think of anything else...too lazy to get up and look too

lol... in my case, i have an interest in any guy who can cook at the very least. i'm a terrible cook... i burn or undercook everything i try to cook cuz i'm so paranoid, lol. plus, i'm very, very.... and i mean, very picky. so if a guy were cooking for me, he'd have to know what i like to impress me :P

Lol!

From a male cooking perspective... it would be like: I'll cook what I like, and if we're meant to be together, you'll like it, too.

If not, oh well. There are more women willing to try my cooking than there are guys who are willing to cook.

Hmm. I don't know about your theory, Pacion. all I know is that my former SO had three spices in his cupboard when I met him -- red pepper, ginger, and salt. What does THAT mean?

haha tj, that's a good way of looking at it. who knows... i might end up trying something new and actually liking it... that'll be a first

lol... i'm not picky in anything else though  or so i like to think, heh

Lol! So here's the thing... being an ornery older guy, I don't really care about whether I impress a date. Either she accepts my cooking and how I am or not. I'm not going to worry about it, since there's always others who will appreciate me. It's not about me trying to "win you over" but whether the two of us have mutual chemistry going on.

And hey, I've had girlfriends in the past who were picky eaters but liked my cooking nonetheless... And the sooner that we both can establish our "quirks" the sooner we get to decide whether this will go anywhere or not.

I am astonished at what dramas my friends will make of just dating or trying to date someone. ...and I will leave it at that!

My personal philosophy: Be yourself, even if that includes being picky.

hehe, i totally agree with you. i don't like it when people try to go through all this drama to try and impress others. me? i'm myself everywhere :D i just do whatever i do... i don't like to try and impress people... if you like me for who i am... great! if you don't... oh well, it was nice meeting you, lol. that includes food too, lol. if a guy doesn't like that i'm picky... deal with it or leave, lol. i can handle other picky people too since i know all too well how it is

but yes, i definitley agree with your philosophy... very highly-leveled thinking... i'm proud of see others share my views

and by the way, my friends are like that too, lol... go through SO much drama and complaining and changing and aahhh... over the opposite sex, lol
