Could you recognise someone you haven't see in a long time?

Last week I met someone who told me a story of seeing someone on the streets of London, far from where they had first met, and they hadn't seen each other in like ten years. He recognised her from "the way she walked", thought it was her, tried to get a closer look and yes, it was her.

Just a couple weeks before, someone else had related a similar story to me.

Has this ever happened to you? Why do you think this happens? Why is it this happens with some people that have passed through our lives and not others?

Weird, Lol- nobody ever remembers me, because I look completely different than I did just four years ago. I changed so completely in the span of just about six months, that now I don't have to hide if I see someone I didn't like from high school or college, because they don't know me from Adam. At first I felt pretty bad about it- I remembered all these people, and they didn't remember me, but now, it's actually kind of nice! You get to pick and choose who you say hi to, LOL.

Yes, it happened to me. I met a friend from High School I hadn't seen in over fifteen years in a restaurant here on the coast. We went to school in Eastern Oregon. I had moved to the East Coast for eight years, she was living in Virginia at the time but visiting Oregon and we met in a restaurant! When I lived in Maryland we only lived an hour or so away from each other, and didn't know it. I thought I recognized her and asked her and yes it was her.

Another friend of mine met up with people she used to know in Connecticut in a small "blip on the road" town here in Oregon.

It really is a small world.

I've had people recognize me. Was in a videogame arcade and some guy who had been on my floor in my college dorm came up to me and said, "Hey Joe!" I hadn't seen him since before I left college--maybe some 10 years before.

I have horrible memory for faces. But my dh (who I met in high school many, many years ago) will often point out someone to me who was also in our class. I just see an old(er) person and he recognizes him/her. I cannot see the 18 year old I remember in the wrinkled face! My dh just amazes me!
