Dance DVD

$96.00 each - Not in the price range you were thinking, BUT the best DVDs I have seen so far. Also, they technically aren't competition, but they are the top 6 couples in the world (6 on the Latin DVD, and 6 on the Ballroom DVD), each doing their 5 ballroom dances in a show format.... hours of FUN!!!!

2003 World Super Stars Dance Festival Latin - 2003WSSLDVD : DVD All Region
2003 World Super Stars Dance Festival Modern (ballroom) - 2003WSSSDVD : DVD All Region

On a related note, DanceVision is having a sale on their US championship VHS tapes, for years 98, 99, and 00, for $25 each (if I remember correctly), and those are the real-deal (ask Larinda ;)) with sports commentators, crane operated cameras, interviews and the works, but you asked for DVD. I'm sure I paid around or over $50.00 when they were fresh.

Hope this info helps...

Not quite as exciting but much cheaper:

For ~$40 you can get videos of the crystal palace cup (standard/latin both pro and am) and a few other competitions from dance-shop.com at dance-shop.com/acatalog/Dance_Shop_Video_32.html

I've not actually seen the videos, but i've been to the event and there were some top dancers (Tim Howson & Joanne Bolton being the most high-profile). I'm not sure whether you can get them as DVDs as well as videos, and I think the videos are in PAL, so if you're in the US you'll need a compatible system...

dancesport.co.uk sell a number of DVDs for reasonable prices, though probably not quite under $50

I would love to make some videos and try selling them for the price of "normal" DVDs, i'm sure there's a market to sell 10,000s of copies of a good DVD for $25 or so... at the moment all the vendors seem to try to squeeze as much as possible out of the few people that ca afford to pay $100s for this stuff...

Just a note -- that sale ends in a couple weeks, so if you want the discount, you'll have to move quickly. 8)

I checked the website, and I guess the actual price for these is $19.99 each, only availble in VHS. Still, a great deal...

I have the 98, 99, 00 closed smooth, the 98 rhythm, the 99 open latin, and the 98 Yankee Classic - all GRRRREAT! (hope they convert these to DVD).
