Dance Fashion influencing Stars' Fashion?

I was just looking at some (ok, a couple for the moment  ) dancewear websites - latin, ballroom etc etc.

With some/many of those dresses, with the lines and cuts of the skirts (cut high on the thigh, midriff cutouts, back cutouts) or even the sequins and the stones, I can draw parallals with "Stars' Fashion". Can't think of the correct phrase (due to tiredness ) but when I say "Stars' Fashion" I mean what the 'stars' wear to premieres, the award ceremonies etc.

For instance, do you ever look at photos from say the Oscar Awards and think - hmm, I could dance in that or that dress (especially those worn by the older/more mature actresses/singers) or that dress/outfit would not look out of place on a dancefloor?

Do you think that designers are drawing their inspiration from the ballroom & latin worlds or are they actually coming up with 'original' ideas?

Influences 'flow' in many directions, so it's hard to say! I do feel like dancesport fashion and "red carpet" fashions are much closer than they were 5 and 10 years ago. I wouldn't say that the couture designers are borrowing from the ballroom world, simply because the ballroom world isn't all that big or influential as compared to the high fashion world. However, lots of people are looking to the same sources (haute couture runway shows, popular movies, street fashion), so some of the same ideas get translated into clothing for both realms.

Whenever I look at somebody (clothing, footwear, jewelery, hair style) I think: Oh, I could dance in that dress... or... those shoes are not fit for dancing! or that hair style wouldn't last a second on a turbo salsa! or Love those earrings... they match the top I bought yesterday for Salsa dancing!
