Hi, i'm a novice when it comes to ballroom dancing and i was interested in taking some ballroom dance classes with my gf. The thing is i have no idea what instruction schools are good in my area. Really appreciate the help.

Thanks for the warm welcome! My gf has been bugging me for months to take ballroom dance lessons with her and i'm finally caving in.

Atomic Ballroom is in Irvine. The owner is an excellent lindy hopper but I don't know about his ballroom credentials. However, if you go to the ballroom dances on Saturday nights (check their website for which nights) there are many, many excellent dancers there who could tell you more.
Avant Garde is down there too but I don't know anything about it except they host dances. But check out the Atomic dances. A woman named Doreen would be knowledgeable, I think.

is probably your best bet. if i lived closer i'd be more involved with their studio. jerry jordan is a pretty cool guy although you actually won't see him much on the saturday night dances, doreen & crew pretty much do the dj-ing nowadays.
again, as it's the gf getting you to pursue this i don't expect this ,but i would recommend avant garde http://www.avant-garde-ballroom.com

if you were more concerned about getting a foundation that would lead in competition.

might be a good fit but i haven't been to BisB (they & atomic have/had the best floors for social ballroom dancing in OC) since they moved from huntington beach to costa mesa.
topcats in placentia is more c/w-ish but IIRC they offer a social balloom class on wednesday nights.

there are other studios i'm sure but if you went to a ballroom dance at atomic, BisB or avant garde you'd probably meet anyone & everyone interested in ballroom in OC.
