Dance Legends 2016

I loved it! I have only been to 1 other one (2yrs ago) so that's all I can compare it to, but it was alot of fun! Slavik & Karina are my main movtivators for going...otherwise I might have gone to tonight's show instead.

Slavik & Karina
danced 4 dances: Fever cha cha, Quando Te Beso Rumba, their new tango & Bamboleo. (Happy with this, but I am dying to see more new stuff from them!!) Slavik has gotten his mojo back...much more confident than 2 yrs ago. The new tango is very intense. Loved it!
Neil & Katya danced 4 as well I think. They were really excellent. I haven't been a big fan of them from comps but they are amazing show dancers...very creative & fun. Their slow jive was H.O.T!!!
Austin & Nino were A-MA-ZING!!!! Stole the show! Their paso was mind blowingly intense, couldn't keep your eyes off of them. Super chemistry! (the new Slavik & Karina--??)
Emanuel Pierre & Liana: fantastic. 1st time seeing them live for me. They danced 4 dances I believe, Cha cha, Rumba, Bolero & Mambo...maybe 1 more?? He's such a great showman & she is of course so technically great. Really great, fun energy.
Arunas & Katusha were amazing. Her costumes were beautiful...I personally liked their dances from 2 yrs ago better, i thought the song choices were better & had more emotion to pull me in but I was overall less emotionally connected with couples this year (probably just me).
Valerio and Monica: thought they were very good
Gerhard & Amor (exhibition dancers): Phenomenal! She is beyond flexible!! Very entertaining.

Loved the host (forget his name)....super funny!!

So, overall excellent night. :)

Most memorable for me were Neil and Katja. Although everyone cheered for Riccardo and Yulia the most, Niel and Katja's show dancers were in my mind superior to all else. These guys are world showdance champion, and this was a showdance, so it made sense they would be good. During their Paso Doble, my girlfriend actually cried. I liked their Samba the best (video here).I really hope to see them again next year, and now I'm going to go binge watch them on youtube.

Also notable was that the Theater Arts couple this year was incredible. Last year I didn't care much for the Theater Arts dancers, which I chocked up to me just being a ballroom dancer so I figured this sort of thing isn't my bag, baby, but I was totally astounded by this couple, who are the world champions from South Africa.

Besides that, it was expectedly great. It was nice to see Slavik and Karina, something I thought I'd never get to see live, Victor and Anistasia were adorable, and Katusha had all the most beautiful dresses as usual.

I adore Neil and Katja. I follow them both on instagram as well, and they seem to have so much fun when they dance!

Gary McDonald - and he was phenomenal!

So, overall excellent night. :)

Thank you!

I heard there were pro am couples included in the performances!

The normal Pro/Am session was Saturday during the day, but there was also a single Pro/Am couple that performed Friday night, and a different one that performed Saturday night, stuck in between the pros. I think those couples must have donated a huge amount of money to Dance Legends, or maybe they were the best Pro/Am couples from the year before. I don't know.

It was a great event, and Ily and the whole Dance Legends team put on another top notch show!

Photos coming soon, but shame on all you DF'ers who didn't come over and say "hi" to me! :p
