Hi, I know there's probably another thread like this somewhere which is why I'm asking here. where would I post a query about finding a dance partner in my area?

Probably the best way is to contact a coach in your area. They typically have their ears to the ground for people looking. There is a website that may help... but I had mixed success with it. I've heard of a few being matched up on Facebook.

My coaches generally do not wish to get involved with partner searches. They don't want it to get back to them if a search doesn't work out. Same thing with studio owners. But dance groups may be a good option such as Dance America, (USABDA) or others. These groups typically have monthly newsletters with ISOs.

How about you post in this forum something like "Male 41y Boulder Colorado looking for a partner for silver/gold comps"

^ That would go in the dance ads section, actually... but feel free to put it there ;)

Dancepartner dot com can be good for social or lower level competitive partners. So can attending various social events in your area, or dropping in to classes at other studios.

Above about gold, you'll likely have more success by casting a wider net. Try using Facebook - either your own dance network or the numerous partner search groups - or dancesportinfo dot net. In my experience, this is also the level at which coaches will help you search for a partner by spreading the word through their dance networks.

You can also peruse these older threads for some tips and suggestions:

You'll see in the last one that I whine about my partner search... in 2013... the search is STILL going. So keep at it, because it can take a while.... but people keep telling me that it will happen.
