Dance suggestions

Hello Dance Forums, so i know nothing about dance. However i would like to do a ballroom style dance at my wedding in September, i have a song (just the first 58 seconds, i plan on editing the song to make it longer). And i would like to know what dance would work best with that song. Any advice would be much appreciated

Its kind of a waltz. The steps for Viennese waltz are a bit too complicated for a beginner. So better try to learn some basic steps of the slow waltz. But the music is a bit tricky, too: there is a pause but the beat continues. Some dance studios offer a wedding dance class. Other studios sometime develope special choreographies for the chosen wedding dance song. Watch the following vid, this choreo seems to be made right for this song.

I was thinking it was close to a Waltz as well, i looked up the box waltz and it seemed like if we paused on some of the steps it might work. I tried my local dance studio, no one teaches ANY kind of ballroom dance. it's a small town of about 7k. And if we go to a large city it's about a 6hr round trip. So i would want to learn something simple to keep those lessons down.

..tried my local dance studio, no one teaches ANY kind of ballroom dance..
Where are you located? Not only BR studios teach waltz. And almost every teacher for swing, salsa, folklore, tango, ballet, flamenco, or modern dance is able to teach you the basic waltz steps or figure it out in a second.

Fort Bragg, Ca. I asked them if they had anyone who could teach me the box waltz, and she said she didn't know of anyone in the area and she said she asked the other instructors and they didn't know of anyone either. I was a bit surprised as well, by the looks of the dance i could nearly teach myself. But i wouldn't be able to see when i am doing things wrong.

..she said she didn't know..
strange
You could try it with the password "private" . Sorry every tango dancer and instructor of tangomendocino.com (they have a weekly class at the Weller´s) is able to teach you the basic waltz moves. Ask them if you could attend one hour before their class starts to have a private lesson.

Wow I just mapped you and you really are in a desolate dance place!

I love velvet Underground and listened to more than my fair share when I was in highschool and college. I knew this song as soon as I hit the button. And it is easy enough to dance to, with several fun spots to really act. Just paypal me and I will teach you via skype.

Wow, Larinda. Just: wow.

To the OP, as a new dancer, you may not realize this, but Larinda is a very, very, highly qualified and experienced teacher and dancer. I am sure she would do a great job working with you via skype on your wedding dance.

Let us know how it goes!
