Dancing in Chicago

I'll be in Chicago this November for a work thing. Ideally I'd like to dance some tango or take a lesson, but if that's not possible I'd like to at least get some dancing in. Are there good places to dance (welcoming to an outsider, and a beginner at that, without a partner) that someone here could recommend?

I probably won't have a car, and I'll likely be staying at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place...wherever that is.

ETA: I'll probably be arriving Wednesday, and leaving on a Saturday afternoon/evening.

I can probably help you with this on a variety of fronts not including AT

Relative to downtown, McCP is pretty far south. FA on Michigan Avenue has parties on Friday nights (or they used to) but you'd really have to cab it up there.

Too bad you're not coming in the summer. SummerDance in Grant Park has free outdoor lessons and dancing Thursdays through Sundays. The portable floor can be a little bumpy though.

I live south of town...you can come over and dance in hicksville...but actually, mc cormick isn't that far out, IMO...will pm you as well

Hyatt-McCormack Place? Oh, good God, CHECK YOUR HOTEL BILL before you pay it. At least three of us had problems with things being double-billed or being billed for stuff we didn't buy/use at Windy City last month. Apparently it's not the first time it's happened, either. In my case they were supposed to switch it off my card the second night and didn't, and billed both of us in the room for the entire thing.

Thanks, guys! All help greatly appreciated. And if you're wondering why I posted here and in the AT forum, it's cuz I don't know how much crossover reading goes on. :-)

I will be sure to check my bill.

And, nucat, yeah...shame it's not in summer. Unfortunately, conferences are when conferences are, and there's nothing I can do about it. (Like there's nothing I can do about the fact that I have present Saturday morning. Ugh.)
