Dancing makes you smarter

I watch Chinese movies with subtitles. I understand learning a language also helps prevent Alzheimer's. I've been learning for 2 years, and now I understand more than 50% of what they are saying in the movies now. Unfortunately, Amazon has a small selection of foreign films with subtitles.

On a serious note, intelligence is often measured by the ability to recognize and form patterns, then break them and make new ones. This is something we do constantly in partner dancing. I honestly feel that dance, combined with a lifetime of doing a variety of puzzles and games and other cognitive exercise, has kept me sharp and helped me to solve problems, look at things from different angles, and make quick decisions. I think cognitive stimulation is beneficial for everyone, in whichever form it takes.

But that's just my opinion. I ain't no scientist er nuthin.

I you had looked around the forums, you'd see that there's one called "Dancers Anonymous" which has a description allowing for non-dance-related topics. Which is where you should have put your post, not in the middle of the first thread you ran across.

This is very true for me these days. I keep learning different patterns and a lot of people are wondering how to get out of a weird twist/mid-turn with a partner and I end up just trying to figure out how to make it look smooth and untangle them like a twist tie lol.

Dance, whatever style you choose, has many mental and physical benefits to our body. It automatically builds stamina, improves flexibility and readies you to handle every situation/environment.

Besides these benefits, dance has many advantages like teamwork, effective communication, trust building, focus, discipline etc. Dance can build confidence too!

This is not an exaggeration to say that dance makes everyone smarter. All these qualities lead to make a dancer smarter indeed!
