Dancing with the Stars Season 14

Maria is indubitably good - and benefits tremendously from the Derek factor - but Melissa Rycroft she is not. Derek is stil the top DwtS choreographer, the BollySamba was excellent, wonder if he got the idea from Meryl Davis & Charlie White. Strange for Len to take exception to a non-Samba, while not taking exception to non-Tangos, non-Waltzes, non-Pasos, non-everything elses........

Thing is you could EASILY get lots more samba action into it (I've got a 'bollywood' samba idea kicking around, but my samba skills are...well.) Which I think was Len's point. Who said one corte jaca does not a samba make? There wasn't even an effort at bounce action.

Dude: He's tall. They'll love him even as a 'Nice Guy'.

Tony's tall and much nicer (in his on-camera persona, at least.) Hasn't helped him any.

Katherine is very clearly hampered by her partner. Why does Mark keep dressing her up as a man? Talk about counter-productive.....?

Some guys like the woman-in-a-tux thing more than cheap n' easy skin, and the ones who like the latter category are in large part not watching DWTS....The team outfits with top hats were awesome. I'm tired of the 'rip away the outer costume' gag-it sorta worked here (and ended up a plus because Katherine was unflappable about getting the piece stuck) but with Melissa's? Why? What purpose did that serve?

Donald's 'Tango' (to another ECS) was rushed, not his fault, the music...well...you know....
Back in Season 6, Mario and Karina Smirnoff danced a pasodoble to the same song.

His Jive, however, EASILY the dance of the night!
Now THAT is a 10!

That was a perfect 30 Jive. Donald wasn't just looking good with Karina and Peta dancing around him. He actually DANCED.
I still cringe at the thought of leading two throwaway fallaways simultaneiously.

Not gonna lie, I'm really bummed out about Roshon leaving. Probably more than I was about Sabrina Bryan because I actually spent most of my votes on him in this case.

This is, of course, very much a matter of personal taste and they're all great, but Tony might be the best male pro they have, I wonder why he almost always ends up with dud contestants.

It's a shame. I was fortunate enough to attend a group class he gave, and he's a great teacher.

Sexy? I think the show is first and foremost a career promotion vehicle for the participants. Being sexy is part of it, sure.
Kristi Yamaguchi is just the whole package.
Pretty, popular, graceful, athletic, ice princess supreme - what more could you want?
Don't think they'll ever top that one - not unless the Disney Corporation figures out a way to bring Fred Astaire back from the dead.
I think Tony's problem may be his age. Whatever it may be. America no likee 30+.

I spent almost all of my votes on him, started voting when he was in the bottom 3. It did not help this week, I guess. I wish Maria would have left instead but glad Melissa left and not Katherine.

Er...I think I disagree. Kristi Yamaguchi never struck me as sexy. Best celebrity ever on DWTS, IMO.

Yeah, I agree. She deliberately avoided really trashy costumes (though it wasn't just a middle-age thing; she was never about 'sexy' as a skater-though to be honest no one still in the eligible divisions is, the rules are pretty ruthless about tarting it up. Hence everyone disliking Tonya's trailer-trash open front dress. Okay, except in ice dance, where it's more like they pass rules AFTER someone comes up with something in such poor taste they never thought they'd have to ban it. But Russian ice dancers are "special" that way...) People voted for her mostly because she was WAY better than everyone else, plus probably some 'wife and mom' votes plus never underestimate the memories and voting determination of skating fans. (Sadly that wasn't enough to give Evan the win, but he has a few haterz in the skating community...)

Why did Evan have "haterz"?

Why did Evan have "haterz"?

Oh, geez, how long do you have? Short version, at the time the BIG thing was the people who just HHHHHAAAAATTTTED that "quadless" Evan (he has landed quads, he opted not to do one, they're not required in the rules) beat Evgeni Plushenko for the 2010 Olympic men's gold by something like two-tenths of a point. (Evan didn't have a quad, but skating fast and clean. Plushy was uncharacteristically wobbly in the long program and has always had a lower GOE and base value than Evan on things like footwork. Frankly the REAL wuzrobbed was that Daisuke Takahashi was third, not second-he had one major fault to Plushenko's multiple little ones.) That was really fresh in some people's minds at the time. Plushenko didn't help cool it by 'jokingly' jumping on the top step first in the medal ceremony and having a "platinum" medal on his fan page.

And then there's the people who think Evan "stole" Johnny Weir's place as leading US man by being 'boring', there are a whole faction who really hate that Evan considers himself/presents himself as heterosexual and insist he's just refusing to come out and for some reason this is a horrible thing and m means he's an evil lying liar who lies a lot. (AFAIK, Evan is exactly as he presents himself. And even if he's not, that's his business.)

Really, you want to start a massive flame war on a skating forum there are three topics that are guaranteed to work: Michelle Kwan, Evan Lysacek, and Kim Yu-na versus Mao Asada. Weirdly being on DWTS HELPED Evan with a lot of fans. There's a HUGE DWTS following in the skating world and it got him some credit in some corners. Helped that he had Anna, who's one of the most popular pros.
