SHORT CUTS: Former NFL great Jerry Rice, actor Robert Wagner, Soap Talk's Lisa Rinna and Nick Lachey's younger bro, Drew, are among the aspiring hoofers expected to sign up for the second season of Dancing with the Stars, which debuts Jan. 5.

bleh, don't like the athlete choice. if they must have a token athlete, i wish they could get someone from a non Bulky TestosteroneFest sport like tennis.
 
Now my comments...

Jerry Rice got the "manly man sports former pro great" slot
Robert Wagner got the "handsome older actor" slot
Drew Lachey got the "reality 'star' who owes ABC something slot
Lisa Rinna got the "famous daytime TV person" slot

Seems that if they got Drew Lachey they are still scraping the bottom of the celebrity barrel...I men really, a guy famous for being the brother of a guy who is famous for being married to some bimbo on a reality show that I heard either was or is going to be cancelled?
 
I know who some of the pros are, but since it's not public yet I'm keeping quiet. Or sort of quiet. Let's put it this way: it will not be the same slate of pros as last time. But it will be a good group, never fear.

Jerry Rice= Season 2's Evander (let's hope he has just as much fun....)
Drew Lachey = an experienced stage dancer (can he out-dance Joey?)
Robert Wagner = My Mom's going NUTS over this possibility ...;) Won't out-dance the original Silver Fox...John O'Hurley, but if he does half as well, who knows? ;)
Lisa Rinna = I don't know....but instinct is telling me that she could be an ACTUAL threat for Season 2's title.

And the pairing possibilities....

1. As with Evander, put Jerry with Edyta. Both are strong, fast and can MOVE really well. Being a wide receiver, Rice wouldn't have issues with hip movement or lead feet. :)

2.) No contest. Pair Drew up with Ashly Delgrosso. Something tells me that these two would be "High Energy" personified.

3.) This one may surprise you, but I would love seeing Lisa Rinna with Louis Van Amstel. Wouldn't mind seeing him dance with someone who doesn't appear to be shackled by too much in the way of inhibitions.

4.) She did it in Season 1, can she pull it off one more time? And - can this pair top the performances she had with O'Hurley? I don't think ANYONE could do that...but it would be interesting to see if Charlotte can work her magic with Robert Wagner.
