“Dancing With the Stars”, an ABC show, will return for an 8 week run beginning in January.

The series will fill in for “Alias,” which will be going on hiatus to accommodate Jennifer Garner’s maternity leave. She is expecting her first child with husband Ben Affleck later on this year.
 
According to ABC News "Dancing With the Stars" will premiere Thursday, January 5 at 8:00 p.m. (EST).

The best news IMO, is that they are adding a results show each week. ABC says the celebrities will be announced at a later date.

A results show?
 
Someone I know who is close to one of the dancers from the first series says that they are auditioning and deciding on the pool of pros now. How it worked last time was that they picked a pool of pros, and then matched pros to whichever Stars they actually ended up signing. We suspect that there will be some sort of announcement about the pros after the Ohio Star Ball. This is all third-hand information at this point, so I can't guarantee it's accuracy....
 
By the way, I read on "Television Without Pity" that "So You Think You Can Dance" will be back for a second season.
