Dancing With The Stars - Take 2

Temporary hijack. Did anybody see the preview for Take the Lead? I saw it when I was at the movies this past weekend. It reminded me of Dangerous Minds, to be honest. Antonio Banderas was ... well Antonio Banderas, which is always a very good thing. The preview looked kinda cheesy, though. Regardless, I will see the movie. I just hope it's a good one. :?

Okay. Sorry. Back to topic. I didn't see the promo. Still haven't started watching Desperate Houswives.

Sharp and hard-hitting? How so? :)

He only wants to do one session a week??!! Are you kidding me? What is the matter with him? What can he possibly expect to learn practicing only once a week, especially if he's starting out from scratch.

(...mumbling in disbelief as I drag my sorry self to the dance studio several times a week to practice, whether I want to or not...and I've been taking dance lessons for 4 years now...)

On the other hand, in the first season, John O'Hurley initially would only commit to a couple of hours of practice twice a week, and ended up wanting something like 6 hours a day, 6-7 days a week, so Rice may change his tune if the competitive fires and/or reality kick in.

Yeah...just wait until he gets hooked. Once he snaps, I'm sure he'll change his tune about how often he wants to dance. :P

Maybe reality will be what gets him, especially if he only survives the first week by the skin of his teeth. There's nothing like the fear of looking bad in front of an audience to motivate you. And think, this audience is millions and millions of tv viewers.

Yeah. That was my thought. Once the actual dancing gets started, perhaps he'll stop underestimating what he needs to do, in order to avoid public humilation.

For some reason most non danceing people think that dancing takes a lot less to look good... People usually stop underestimating the time needed once they start training, and once they see themselves in the mirror :)

And then there are those, like Medira, who look great on video, even though they've been dancing less than a year!

*blushes furiously* You're too sweet, Jay. Thank you. :D

dancer vs. celebrity??!!

my first post ever:

Which approach to Dancing With The Stars is more difficult, dance pro or celebrity?

(If "I am a dance pro" equals A, and "I am a celebrity" equals B, then which of A implies B, B implies A, not A implies B, A implies not B, not B implies A, and B implies not A, not A implies not B, and not B implies not A, is true? Did I leave any possibilities out?) (As we all know, the contrapositive is true if the statement is true, so if A implies B is true, then not B implies not A is true.)

For those who have been featured on the show for one season, is this question a little more serious?

If you had your choice, which would you rather be, dance pro or celebrity?

Do the dance pros on the show want to become celebrities, or do they consider it a form of public service?

How has being on the show affected the lives of the dance pros?

Have any of the celebrities taken up dancing as a hobby?

Have you ever been on camera solo? What do you think of yourself, if you have? (What do you think of yourself if you haven't?) (I have been, and I haven't danced since. Does celebrity take one's mind off the more important things in life? Just kidding. I've danced since then.)

Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers rank in my pantheon of great personalities. What if there was a modern equivalent? Does anyone even merit mention? No one that I know of. I wish there was. That's the only thing I don't like about the show: dancing and celebrity seem to be uncharted modern territory and this makes me sad.

A good partner is one of the most exciting experiences known to mankind. Wouldn't you agree?
