I knew it was gonna happen sooner or later. Well, after seeing nearly ALL those Mayan salsa clips (and of course keeping in mind these are PERFORMANCES, not social type salsa dancing) I've up and decided to attend a Salsa class tonight with mucho dancing afterwards. I am psyched as could possibly be!

What a dance, I must say!! I've tried the basic eons ago but it never totally caught fire for me, until now that is.

So anyhoooooooo, what tips/advice would you more experienced Salsalero's give for someone just entering this wonderful world?

Yay! I hope you have loads of fun Philowl and the Salsa bug completely overtakes you! Muhahahha :twisted: That's awesome. :D There are a quite a few threads for the salsa beginner. Will look for and post. The main thing is to have fun. BRB :car:
 
Well, here it is, the morning after and MAN I had the time of my life last night!!! :D

I was introduced to NY/On-2 Salsa and while it's gonna take a little practice and persistence for me, I must say I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it and got in a good amount of dancing. Once the rhythm started to feel natural I started to get adventurous and I tell ya, I am SOOOOO glad I gave Salsa another try!!

And more one converted, we might have to do it one by one, but eventually all on this planet will be dancing salsa and peace will reign this earth. :peace: :peace:

Glad you liked it, and hopefully the owl will soon soar again and often over the salsa floor.

Seriously, I am falling in love with this dance already! I'll be doing more Salsa that's for sure!

I couldn't form an impression of the ATL scene in general, but I am told that it is very much thriving here, TONS of people dig Salsa in some form or other here. As I get better and more involved in it I'll definitely comment.
