Dealing with a non-communicative dress vendor (who also has your money)

Ridiculous, bitter update: So after seeing all kinds of pics on social media over the course of the last six weeks from this designer, we have decided that her gig isn't designing for the mortals, her business model is to be designing and dressing the pros, and then, once the pro is finished with the dress, that's when it's for sale. TOTAL SPECULATION: This must be why she was so late with his shirt (AND why it looked like a dishrag), because she had to get so many dresses and shirts ready for the pros dancing at all the big late summer/fall comps. We picked her based on the assumption that BECAUSE she dresses pros, she was advertising her talent and her ability and she could make bespoke clothing that looked as phenomenal on a mortal as they always do on the pros. WHEW - glad to have gotten that off my chest. #themoreyouknow

That's terrible!! That whole situation sounds awful. Makes me never want to order a custom dress (even if I could afford it). I have to say, i'm terrible and want to know the designer...i am being a terrible gossip...

Some years ago I went to dinner at the Four Seasons restaurant in NYC (in its old location). The room was quite nice but I was *very* disappointed with the quality of the food and the service. Much later I read a critic's review article about the two-tiered service they provide, for celebrities and "power players" vs. for "everyone else".

Happily, in all fields, there are still professionals to be found who simply take pride in their work, at the fair (and sometimes steep) price they charge, for ALL of their customers.
