Dinner & Tango

I wanted to get some feedback before approaching a local restaurant and offering to DJ if they provide space for a milonga. I have been to two milongas where the venue served food but the dancers were not seated and the meal was purchased at the counter. Unfortunately, many dancers just showed up to dance and not buy much more than a glass of wine if anything at all. Both of these milongas subsequently no longer exist and I am guessing because the restaurant was not making enough money off the dancers. I thought it may be better for the restaurant if everyone was sat down and severed a meal.

Has anyone been to such a milonga at a restaurant? Does anyone have suggestions so that it would be successful for all parties?

Thanks!

Seattle has had several restaurants with milongas. The milonga takes place no earlier than 9:00 PM, sometimes after the restaurant closes for regular hours of operations. There is always a menu. There is no cover. If there is one, its nominal. However, there is an understanding to please support the restaurant. This is normally made public at a announcement/info website There is always places to sit, eat, and order food. The waiters make their rounds and pamper the guests.

Also, milongas in restaurants are only done once a month. To often, and the interest wanes.

This Milonga has been very successful it’s free. If you want to eat or drink it’s cheap and good.
It’s mid week so it’s not in competition with the “regular” milongas.
The restaurant is happy to have 40 to 60 people on a off night.

Thanks for the feedback and welcome.

I think the once a month suggestion is good. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Cheers!
