Do Professionals take more lessons than Amateurs

Do Professionals take more lessons than Amateurs? Is there a difference when you go from amateur to professional in the amount of lessons you take?
Or is it pretty much the same as high level amateur?

I am actually a newbie to the professional world (competitively. I do not teach at this point). I competed as an amateur for almost 9 years and made the jump after my last amateur competition last April. I have been competing professionally since late August of this year.

DP and I took considerably more lessons at the beginning of the transition, as we decided to change all of our choreography before getting on the professional floor. We would take many lessons in bulk over a short period of time to receive as much material as we could. Following that, we spent A LOT of time just practicing on our own and reviewing the videos of the material following those bulk lessons.

Now, we work with someone weekly for "maintenance and advising" and take advantage of visiting coaches coming to our studio. We also travel at times to visit coaches out of state.

Ultimately, I think the number of lessons we have taken over time as professionals has not increased dramatically from our time as amateurs, but we practice a lot more and take our lessons from 2 or 3 coaches rather than just 1 as we did in the past.

The pros I see take about as many lessons as me, if anything fewer because their coaches are often overseas (as pros are more likely to have international reputations and to have moved during their careers because they are usually older), but when they travel for lessons they take a whole bunch.

So far we maintain same amount of lessons as when used to danced champ amateurs; certain lessons with US coaches, and takes international coaches as well. I used to take lot of coaching lessons from oversea coaches when danced as amateurs, if you take a look of int’l coaches booking sheets, you won’t be surprised to find many champ finalists or semi-finalist amateurs take whole bunches of lessons, just like pros, as most open am semi-finalsits or finalists do have a plan to turn pro eventually. Whenever oversea coaches comes in, usually takes a bunch if our finance allowed, or only 1 with him or 1 with her with the coach couple if money was tight; if DP or I have a preference over a coach couple, such as if DP finds male coach of the couple helps him more, we would book 2 with him and 1 with her, etc.
