Do you order dancewear and shoes from overseas?

The black dress is much nicer than the red one. On the red dress, I think it's the combination of the high waist and short skirt. If you hold a finger over the picture and just block out the gap between the side pieces (cape?) the dress has a better shape. I think that's part of why I like the black dress more, it's better balanced between the top and bottom. It also has a high waist, doesn't it?

Yeah the high waist killed it.
 
UPDATE! I talked over some options with my mom, who is a talented sewer, and we figured out we probably can’t alter it easily, but designed a slightly modified version. I sent it over to the shop, fully expecting them to be like “nah man we good” but they were willing to try again and gave me a discount! New dress arrives probably by end of October. Belt part will be at the waist and we made the underlying dress black so my belly pooch is not so...accentuated. Otherwise, same design.

I dig this guy and his shop.

Just ordered 2 dresses from Latinodances, Daniel. Apparently Daniel gives a 10% discount to CleanPrecisePro's students since he sends students there a lot. CleanPrecisePro designed a latin dress and a smooth dress for me, and he also took my measurements. Yeah, he rocks. So Daniel and I have been emailing back and forth for a few days now. I cannot wait to see the results!

The latin skirt from Scully's recommendation arrived. And it's good quality, however, I don't like that the dance panties are nude, so it looks very scandalous on me. So I'm going to seam rip the panties out, and wear black shorts.

I want to say that I ordered from Dancewearsolutions previously and they did a good job.
 
Updated showdance dress arrived! sooooo much better. the belt at the waist is much more flattering. i'll post a pic later. it is still a little looser in the back from the weight of the big skirt, and the minidress part will ride up, but nothing terribly bad. i should have requested a leotard with an attached miniskirt and big skirt but i'm not getting another lol.

going to wear it with black fishnets and black shoes. now to figure out some red accessories!
 
My new couture Dance Jacket and Trousers arrived from DSI today and they are AWESOME! American Smooth Jacket design and Hannah Trousers - so, so light and comfortable.

With the back-and -forth for video fittings and COVID shipping delays, it took about three months from when I ordered it, to receiving the completed garments. But worth the wait.

(Only one heart-stopping moment when my UPS notification reported that the package had been delivered, but it wasn’t at the garage door where they usually leave packages. Instead, of coming up the half-mile long driveway to get a signature, the driver waived signature and left the package hanging on the neighbors mailbox post down at the road. My mom rescued it.)
 
In the market for a decent comp dress now, but also potentially looking at a practice dress instead that I can stone.
I looked at the LatinoDances and they look good! Is the quality good enough for open level? They don’t do practicewear though...are there are reputable websites around the $150-$200 for a practice dress, rather than $500?

Alternatively, are there any places that do something similar to the Chrisanne Principle range? They end up being $2500 in AUD and honestly I’d rather buy a fully stoned dress for that price...

Latino Dances will make an unstoned dress for practice. It's less than a stoned gown, obviously, but not dirt cheap. I love mine.

It’s not advertised on the website, but I purchased a rhythm practice dress from Daniel at LatinoDances. It has minimal stoning, just around the V-neck, V-back, and tank strap sleeves. But it does have the built-in bodysuit, bra cups, very full skirt, and even came with a matching set of 8 stoned fabric wrist bangles. If I needed to, it’s nice enough that I could wear it for an in-house studio event. But I wouldn’t wear it to an actual comp. It cost $200 USD plus shipping.

Yes, I have always ordered from overseas (England). I had two operations on my one foot so my shoes are tailored and specially made to fit my foot.
 
Hi everyone - reviving this thread now that I’m looking for a smooth dress. Since the thread is a couple of years old, I’m curious about the quality of some of the overseas vendors, especially after Covid. I need to find something within 6 weeks (lol) and ideally would be under $350 ish (bigger lol). I actually like a lot of the smooth dresses on Latinodancewears, but seems like quality is hit or miss. Anything else that’s really affordable that people have had good luck with? I’m looking in Facebook groups as well but seems like there are a lot more standard dresses than smooth.

My favorite Smooth gown came from Latinodances.com. Not Latinodancewears. BTW, I'm selling it -- thought I'd throw in a plus. PM me if interested.
