Dreaming about Dancing

I was just curious as to how many of you out there often have dreams related to ballroom. And if so, are they usually before a performance or competition? I have a tendency to dream about ballroom right before all of my competitions or showcases. Usually in the dream I will forget something or something goes wrong. Then other times it is just something totally off the wall that makes no sense at all, yet it takes place at the studio.
So I just want to know if any of you guys out there are like me when it comes to dreaming about ballroom???

 haha I do this all the time during the weeks before big competitions. Usually I dream about me showing up late to the comp w/out shoes, costumes, make-up, or hair done. Or I'll dream that I'm dancing at the competition but I always wake up before I can see how well I placed, lol. I'd say that dreaming about ballroom is a pretty frequent thing for me.

I also will dream before competitions. It's time for my heat to start and I can't get there for various reasons (don't have shoes or whatever). The other night I dreamed my brother (my dance partner) and I were getting ready to do our waltz solo. The DJ kept playing the wrong song, or the right song at the wrong speed, or foxtrot. Finally we had to just give up!

I practice in my head, trying to do all the things right and dreaming how it would feel. I think it gives good results... and I do it at night before going to sleep.

I remember during my college freshman year I was solving calculus homework in my dreams... :)

I've always been surprised that I don't dream more about dancing, because I'm always thinking about it. Several years ago when I was working as a church organist, I used to dream all the time about arriving at church without my music or my shoes, or late, or not being prepared somehow. I also used to dream about my job as a bank teller. In the four years I've been dancing, I've only dreamed about it a couple of times that I remember. Not even before competitions when I'm nervous and sometimes stressed out after a bad night-before run-through!

Does daydreaming about dancing all decked out and knocking the judges and audience dead count? Not that I would know anything about such daydreams. Just checking.

Just before my last comp I had a dream that I was walking out onto the floor for my first dance with my partner. As I am walking I notice that my feet are numb. With each step the numbness progresses up my legs until I am in the middle of the dance floor laying on the ground like a jelly fish numb from the waste down.

I often dream that I am at a party or out with friends and suddenly the most beautiful Waltz, or a great Rock 'n' Roll song is being played. I look around desperately for someone to dance with but nobody there knows how to dance. It is SO frustrating being forced to sit or stand there listening to the amazing music and not being able to dance to it.

Doesn't anybody have positive dance dreams? :?

I had a dream last night that I was doing some liquid moves (ala David "Elsewhere" Bernal) then broke into some Michael Jackson! Boy, was that fun!

I know I've been considering taking some private lessons in hip hop/ liquid, robot... just to have fun when dancing alone. Occaisionally, I've practiced a few moves.

This is probably my second most favorite type of dream! :D

seems like I've posted this before...

I have this problem where I dream about things that happened within a few hours of my going to bed. So, if I have a party and lots of people over, I will dream that people are still at my house. Likewise, when I go out dancing and come home and hit the bed, I will dream I'm still at the club dancing.

So, I'll do all sorts of turns, spins, cross body leads, even shines, in my bed. Only after they get so intense that my turning all over the place finally wakes me up completely do I realize that I'm dreaming, and I'll laugh at myself and go back to sleep.

The most embarassing part is that I don't have any clothes on in bed, but all these imaginary people around me do. So I attempt to cover myself up, and that makes me more hot, so I throw the covers off, and the process repeats. Oye. I wake up exhausted, I tell you...

Since I dance more than I should be I don't have the energy to dream of dancing. Flying (like Superman) has been a recurring theme of my dream since I was a boy.
