Dreamy wedding...

I went to a wedding last night. When I was walking into the reception hall, I saw I guy I had met once last year running out, and he said, "I have to get my dance shoes!". I jumped. I hadn't brought mine. They were ahalf hour away and I didn't think there would be any dancers there!

Turns out, it didn't matter. I met up with Ken and re-introduced myself, and we danced, NC2, NC1, Samba, Cha Cha, Fox Trot, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, and a little tiny bit of Mambo and some ECS! Oh and the Hustle. All these dances for the first time for me, and I had SO much fun. And to make things even happier, Ken assumed I knew them all already. I was hesitant to admit that ALL my experience has been Salsa, but eventually I did and he wouldn't stop going on about how well I'd done. And I wouldn't stop going on about how much FUN I was having and what a fantastic lead he was! Oh and he complimented my frame. Yay! I was happy about that because a lot of salsa people ignore frame.

Oh joy. So now I'll be getting into the ballroom world! My favorites? Waltz, Rumba and Hustle. I was nearly floating on a cload of happiness during that dance. Rumba? Do I need to say how I felt during that one? And the hustle was fantastic. Fun, and I understood it right away.

Hurray! And I did it all in inappropriate footwear. LoL... I'm imagining the possibilities once I DO bring my dance shoes.

thes, that's awesome... what a treat! cherish the experience-- those lovely synchronicities are rare. :)

And come to think of it, this is the first time I've felt like I wanted to compete. Wow. Whenever I was dancing salsa I didn't feel that urge. But this ballroom thing? Hmm... wonder if a 31 year old can win something...

I was talking to Billy Fajardo and he was so encouraging. He began competing in his 40s. And look at the guy.

Hey thespina! It's been a long time since I've seen you on a ballroom thread, and to find that you'll be entering the fray! Well welcome to the dark side....

:-)

I was talking about it with my husband last night. He totally gets it. And tonight we're going to have our first lesson, hee hee.... (cue Indiana Jones music)

it is always so nice when it falls into place and you have such an experience, it makes it all worth while and you keep going to have it again,...the joys of dancing.
