DWTS Season 6 - who will be on it?

Feeling nervous for the Houghs. Julianne and Adam are simply the mismatch of the century. And Derek is given the Alec Mazo treatment.

Jason is like this season's Cameron, so I expect Edyta to do well. Mario is like this season's Floyd, so Karina should make him last a few rounds. And Kym is an expert in handling nerdy, successful, unsexy, out of shape older guys, so Penn actually has a chance to do relatively well. The senior dancers almost never get voted off first, so Steve and Priscilla should stick around for a while. I'd be shocked if Cristian/Cheryl, Kristi/Mark, and Monica/Jonathan didn't go the furthest. But I wouldn't be surprised if Marissa became this season's Sabrina.

Again, FEELING NERVOUS FOR THE HOUGHS!

I disagree with Derek getting the Alec Mazo treatment. From reading Elizabeth's IMDB bio, she -does- have some prior dance and martial arts experience which leads me to believe that she might be adept at picking up choreography so I think she'll make it past episode 2.

Plus, and this is not intended as a slight to Alec at all (I think he got a raw deal with Josie and Paulina), but Derek's a great teacher. Look how far he got with Jennie.

It's not entirely about her dancing ability, but how she would be handicapped by her stunning good looks. Josie obviously was a victim of that. I think many viewers thought that she actually danced better than some of the guys, but they just "didn't like" her.

So you're going by the theory that women are the only ones voting for dancers on this show and so Shannon's looks won't win her any fans among the housewives/women voters? Interesting. In that case Alec never had a chance with Josie and Paulina. So any super hot or super attractive female celebrity just shouldn't bother with DwtS since they'll get cut after the first episode.:|

So your theory is that women are shallow, catty, and jealous creatures, and therefore won't vote for attractive women. Please.

Josie Maron did not advance because
A) she was an awkward mover,
B) she isn't all that famous with the people who regularly watch the show (I'd never heard of her), nor did she have the kind of loyal fan base she could compel to watch the show just because she was on it
C) Alec Mazo did her no favors in the profile piece which did not make her sound endearing at all. (Remember "deceptively unfit"? Compare this profile to the profiles where the professional dancer just seems to loooove working with the celeb, despite challenges.)

Note that Albert Reed, the male model, ALSO left the show pretty early, even though he was a MUCH better mover and presumably very visually appealing to a largely female audience. Lack of fan base really hurt him too. (You know it can't be that women were hating on Anna Trebunskaya since she and Jerry Rice made it all the way to 2nd place a few seasons back.)

This program is watched by half the country and not all people as lofty as you who only vote for dancing abilities.

Also note that Albert lasted 1 week LONGER than Josie. If the gender were switched the outcome would probably be different.

C'mon, Jerry had his football fans voting like crazy so that was why they did well. They only proved my point that dancing abilities are often secondary to the voters.

If your point is ONLY that some people vote for things other than dancing ability, then you and I are in agreement.

If your point is that women won't vote for stunningly attractive women, then we disagree.

I also think Laila Ali is far more attractive than Josie Maron, though I realize such things are highly subjective.

NOT ENOUGH women vote for them. Agree? In 3 out of 5 seasons, a hot woman was voted off first. A majority of the viewers were women. Hence, not enough women voted for them. Very simple reasoning, really.

Well, they did vote for Laila Ali, so there your simple reasoning does not hold up. Or do you not find her hot?

I still think the reason Josie Maron got voted off was that she was the least able dancer in her group, pure and simple. Similarly, I think Tucker Carlson got voted off because he was the worst, not because he's a Republican.

If we eventually have a super model on there who is a good dancer and she still gets voted off first, then I will concede your point.
