Sara Evans Quits 'Dancing With the Stars'
'Born to Fly' Singer Leaves Show to File for DivorceAP
LOS ANGELES (Oct. 13) - Country singer Sara Evans on Thursday announced she was filing for divorce and quitting the "Dancing With the Stars" television competition.

Evans filed for divorce from Craig Schelske in Williamson County, Tenn., where she lives, according to a statement issued by Allen Brown, her representative at Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

"Recent events that shed light on the status of her marriage prompted Ms. Evans to make the filing," Brown said in the statement. He declined to elaborate.

The couple were married in 1993 and have three children.

Evans decided she needed to leave the TV show "to give her family her full attention at this difficult time," Brown said.

She was among 11 celebrities who paired with professional dancers to compete on the third season of the popular ABC reality series."

It might be best to give her the benefit of the doubt at the moment. These kinds of situations can cause folks to make choices quickly as a result of their emotional condition. It's beginning to feel very unfortunate, despite my view of her as not really having been good emough to stick ariound as long as she has on the show.

Yes, it is quite possible the issues she is filing for were distracting her, and perhaps the path she was taking while being a DWTS was effecting her in a manner that was keeping her from preparing as she otherwise might have prefered. All around a big bummer.

But other press has been less reticent (the full complaint is linked there, too).
According to the document filed in chancery court, Schelske allegedly has on his computer at least 100 photographs of himself posing in an aroused state. There are several photographs of him having sex with other women, the filings stated.

“On his computers, husband maintains ‘Craigs Lists.’ Many of them involve requests for three party sex and anal sex. Husband’s ‘Craigs Lists’ are composed of personal ads on his personal sex engine involving him and prospective sex partners,” the documents stated.

On Sept. 28, one of the children confronted Schelske, 43, at the couple’s Franklin home when he was watching pornography on TV, the filing stated. The couple’s children are 2, 3 and 7 years old.

She made the announcement well in advance of next weeks competition and elimination.

If it made the news on Thursday you have to expect that she told the studio Wednesday or early Thursday. As long as the studio decided what to do quickly enough it doesn't really take any time away from whoever they replace her with (probably bringing back Max and Willa).

It doesn't matter to me when Sara made the announcement. Sara did ABC and the rest of that cast wrong by not being able to stay in the whole length of time. And not once during a rehearsal did we see her upset. She was singing and all kinds of things. My guess is this is only an excuse. Yes people handle things differently, but if you made a promise to be somewhere then you do it regardless of everything else that's going on. Would her children want her to be known as a quitter? That's exactly what she is doing and that is exactly what she's going to be known as. I'm sorry but if it were a real serious health issue than I would understand, but this has nothing to do with health. I just think that she couldn't take the heat, but Master P had it harder than Sara and he stayed in and took everything that came to him. That kind of tells you something doesn't it? I'm sorry, but I've seen people go through tougher times, and they all came through everything just fine. If Sara is doing things for her family, then she had better not be on tour or anything else until DWTS is over. This is just my opinion folks, but this really aggravates me. I feel no sympathy towards Sara.

I don't think any of us have the right to judge Sara - every person's situation is different. If she felt she needed to be with her kids, then no one has the right to criticize that..

It's just a TV show - not life or death and certainly not more important than her three kids - especially at that age... real life sometimes has to come first...

I understand this Mindy. But if Sara at all continues with her tours and everything else, then she is doing everyone wrong on DWTS. Sara needs to drop everything in other words... not just one thing. And this is for the whole time DWTS is on as well not just for one week. I'm sorry, but that's how I see things. If she doesn't quit everything, then she was just mad at DWTS and nothing more and nothing less. Celebrities go through divorces all of the time and have gone through worse. Sara is no different.
 
Gosh, you guys are awfully hard on the poor woman! :) I thought in the last episode that she was getting dark circles under her eyes and looked very tired. She's a professional and used to juggling her personal life and career and media scrutiny. So, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that she really is just stressed-out beyond belief. Yes, she made a commitment to DWTS, but the well-being of her children is much more important than a television show. :)

And she might do just that...

Thing is - if she's on the road singing, she can take the kids with her and the show is only an hour or so then she's back on the bus as opposed to the boo-coos of hours spent rehearsing for DWTS... so - again -- apples and oranges...

Oh I know lol. I just think that if a person is that overloaded with work etc. that you need to take a break from everything. I think that if the divorce is affecting her this badly, then how will she be able to handle the tour amongst everything else? She's going to have a breakdown eventually if she doesn't stop and take a break. Anyways, I still am not giving her a benefit of a doubt. But celebrities have gone through worse and much worse than what she's going through and they kept working without us realizing everything else was going on.
