hi - thinking of coming to the states on holiday this summer and taking in the NY congress at the same time, at the Hilton. Just wondering if there might be some alternative accomodation closey by that might be cheaper than the Hilton. Seems unlikely to me, but I thought some locals might be able to give me some clues

cheers

The cheaper hotels in NY City run about 90 bucks a night. That is, if that is still the going rate. I use to stay at the Super 8 on 46th between 5th and Broadway. I think, , for the Puertorican day parade. However, it might be rather hard to find a place for less than $130 a night.

Borikensalsero, or anyone who have attended NY congress, I am just curious to know if you find the NY attitude (which boriken was talking about in other threads --- "hey, if you wanna dance with me, you have to be damn good" kind of attitude, atmosphere) even at the congress... :?:

Nope, the congress isn't like that at all. I believe that we all understand this is the time to meet other dancers, and dance with people we otherwise wouldn't. Everyone is friendly and dancing with anybody. The issue here comes with the beginners who are intimidated by what they see, and really just stand to the side with fear of the what ifs....

there will be no problem dancing with almost anyone in NY City. You'll notice those that aren't really there to dance, and will only dance with the bestest dancers, only because they asked.

Thanks, Borikensalsero. Not that I can make it to the congress this year, but I was just curious.
Hope you have a good time there this year! (I am sure you will) :D
