okay guys...i have to sing at the cathedral on about 4 hours...i am not certain I have the voice for it...anyone have a good sore throat chest cold remedy?

gargle warm salt water, then warm (not hot, let it cool down a bit), tea with lots of honey. no dairy

etp...oh man...I hate that...gonna lay donw for an hour and then, if I have to, I will....just downed some vinegar and then some honey...who comes up with this crap?

Fascination, maybe also sugar-free cough drops might help to keep the throat moist. And maybe aspirin might help with the pain. I'm grasping, because you have only a few hours...

gargle with cayenne. add honey to the mix if you want. take it easy at first because the vapors may go up your nose. there's no such thing as too much cayenne in this regard... it's a matter of what you can take.

cayenne can reduce both the inflammation and the soreness. for similar reason, it's supposed to be brilliant on ulcers. and has saved people's lives when they've gone into cardiac arrest. and putting cayenne directly onto wounds to stop bleeding is also recommended, tho i've never done that.

i know you like heat, so perhaps gargling with cayenne will be easy for you.

hope you feel better soon, fasc...

Hmm, a little short notice, but I like having some veal shanks cut and roasted, then you suck out the marrow, all that gelatinous goodness is quite soothing on the throat :D
If you're into that kind of thing

Soothing is good, when you need it!

Tea. Honey. Lemon. A shot of Meyers Rum stirred in. Cinnamon dusting on top. Relaxes muscles, soothes the spirit, tastes good, cleans off the vocal cords, warms. If you time it right, you'll have all the good effects long enough to get you through the service.

I think I'll have one myself, in solidarity with you!

Me too! That sounds great even without a sore throat! :)

lolz...wouldn't have minded that ...but it's too late...made it through respectably, albeit not in top form...which I will gladly accept
