Emmanuel Pierre-Antoine and Liana Churilova retire

I saw the news from Millennium Dancesport on the Dancebeat instagram. They have been my favorite dance couple for years. I am so sad!!!

nazar and irina were nipping at their heels ......good timing he's not a spring chicken LOL

I have to say this is a disrespectful response. Ageism? Really? They were a phenomenal rhythm couple and an audience favorite for many years. That being said, I love Nazar and Irina as well, but Emmanuel and Liana will be missed. They were loved and supported by many and I have no idea what his age is, but it was irrelevant on the dance floor.

certainly didn't mean it to be... i apologize.
I have known him since he judged us in arizona when he still danced with Zacharewitcz ( sp?) then julia..

I liked him better with Joanna just my preference

From being at his lecture 2 years ago at NYDF, I'm actually surprised he took this long to retire. It seemed like every 3rd thing he said was a joke about how he was more than twice the age of Liana, and how he can't really keep up anymore.

I always enjoyed his showmanship on the dance floor.

Yeah, it was all over their Instagrams and etc. that he was way older than her. I'd never have guessed seeing them on the floor together.

Obviously it says they're both retiring from Pro Rhythm, but given that she's so young, I wonder if Liana really is done for good.

I can't get over it!!! I couldn't wait to see them at Blackpool next year

I know it's not polite to ask how old people are, but about how old is he? They (Emmanuel and Liana) did a pro show and taught a workshop at a comp I attended a few years ago, and it was amazing. He has an incredible stage presence. I've never been a good judge of age but are you telling me he's not in his 20's? (only half joking, because I was very surprised when I heard this news though admittedly do not follow the pro circuit. And I can't find this info on wikipedia).

He's at least 40.

He's 45 as of two years ago at NYDF. That's at least what he inferred to me. So he's definitely up there for a pro dancer.

He'll be doing coaching sessions for sure. If you're a rhythm dancer I hear he's a wonderful teacher!

Agreed on his presence. He knows just how to grab your attention on the floor without being too bombastic.

He is sooooo good at putting fire in your dancing. Our first rhythm routines were from Bob and Julia Emmanuel then added the heat esp in mambo
I love that! I was repeatedly watching a video of their mambo at FSS and in their side by side, it was so interesting to me - they were both so full and fluid in their dancing, but Emmanuel was flowing and looked like he was just rocking out to the music, whereas Liana was still flowing, but looked practiced. I don't mean that in a bad way at all because Liana is my goddess - just that maybe Emmanuel has something most people don't :)

I'm also really grateful for him in Dancesport because just, in general, I don't see a lot of minorities in the ballroom at any given time. I don't feel so alone when one of the best in the world is one of my people :P

*peeks out from under rock* WHAT?????
I didn't like Rhythm for a very long time, and Emanuel and Liana can take the credit for changing that one hundred percent.
I wish him and Liana the absolute best in the future.
