English vs. Italian Style

Everyone loves to say "such and such is an Italian style dancer " "such and such is a great English style coach", but what exactly does this mean? What is the difference between the Italian and English styles (not neccessarily asking about the technical differences, but any differences at all that you can think of)?

To me, the English style is more subdued, more calm, and has an air of extra elegance and style to it. In a similar manner, to me Italian dancing is more passionate, perhaps faster, more energetic, and a bit less flowing than the English way is.
