We have received this following information from Eugene and Maria.

After winning our 11th National Amateur Championship title we have decided to join and compete in the professional division starting in January 2008. We are very much looking forward to this new chapter in our lives and eager to enter into a field that we hope brings exciting challenges and amazing experiences. We will finish the 2007 season competing as amateurs and are excited to see those of you attending the Embassy Ball, as this will mark our last open amateur competition in the United States. We wish to thank everyone for your support and guidance these many years past and hope to bring you even more enjoyment dancing as professionals.

Oh yay! Awesome! I'm so glad to hear they're opening an entirely new chapter in their dance lives, a chapter where they still dance together and where we all can still watch!
 
Can't wait to give it loads for my favourite amateur couple as brand new professionals at Blackpool next year. Looking forward to it already!

Its exciting when amateurs turn pro, such as when Egor and Katya inserted themsesleves into pro Standard pack last year - and proceeded to win Rising Star Standard and then made the semi from a first round in the Open Standard at Ohio last year.
