In some way this thread turned into a musicality thread (perhaps it was high-jacked into one, sorry ticolora). But I find that musicality is crucial with salsa.

The first one staying in the thread:
I would take my time to listen, until you feel sure where the one is, @ticolora
Sometimes you don't hear it right away, but after a while you surely do. As I mentioned before, you sound like an experienced dancer, so you will feel it for sure.

But then, in the end, it depends of how perfectionist you are. I don't like dancing on a beat that doesn't feel groovy for me, and dancing on the 3 for me feels like really heavy, but this is always depending on the tune.
On a Cumbia song dancing on the 3 feels great, for instance.
