First pair of Dance Shoes

Just came today. I just put them on, and am not sure how they're supposed to fit. Snug? These are a bit snug, but not too too tight... Nubuck, so they should probably stretch a bit, right? URK! Just hoping I don't have to exchange for a half size bigger, and then have those be too loose!

They do need to be snug. If they are loose you will find your foot stopping after you shoe does...not good! I was told that your shoe should be an extension of your foot.

They will stretch a little bit, you just need to break them in, espescially if youre about to go out for a big night of dancing.
My suggestion for this is to wear them at home for 20 minutes at a time, or longer if you feel comfortable enough. But do put an old pair of socks over the ball of the shoe, this prevents you scratching up and dirtying your new soles.
Do lots of toe rises to loosen up that sole too..it really does make all teh difference!

Oops! I forgot to mention that the straps are a little too long, you know...excess left over after they're on and everything. Anything I can do about that, or should I just deal with tucking and wrapping it? I kind of want to chop it off, looks awful...but I don't want to shabby-up new shoes!
Thanks SO much for the help...

Not a problem SCBailarina25 :D Shoes are one of my favorite topics!

You can cut them...but make sure you do it on an angle, then paint it with some clear nail polish to stop any fray.
I have done it and havent had a problem with the fraying or anything.

I can totally understand you wanting to chop them off! I hate the long dangly ends too , they yukky up otherwise pretty shoes!

Thanks ShyDancer. I have often wanted to cut off the extra bit of strap, but have not wanted to cut through the stitching, for fear that it will wreck the shoes. Yay - no more smiley face extra strap!!

You're welcome dancin_feet :D

I was complaining about how annoying my long straps were and my dance teacher overheard me, and let me in on "a pro's secret"
