I'm seeing Flamenco Bolero by Ballet Teatro Español de Rafael Aguilar in a few weeks and am very excited. Flamenco is a dance I'm not terribly familiar with.
Like most non-flamencoites, I know about the stomping, the clapping, the castanets, the dresses, the passion etc, but do any DF members dance flamenco?
What's the hardest part of dancing it? It strikes me is as very gruelling on your body, certainly your feet. What feelings/moves characterise the dance?
All of the dancers in the troupe have done classical ballet and here in Australia, our best ballet school teaches its students flamenco as one of its subjects. Why? I've been told that flamenco is Spain's equivalent of ballet. Is it true?
