Footwork On2

Had my first Partnerwork/Footwork On2 classes last weekend. It wasn't as difficult as I expexted, but it will be a long time before I can dance On2. :)
I couldn't get one thing though. Why is the basic step when doing Footwork On2 different from the one when you dance with a partner?

If you mean shines when you say "footwork", then the it's an ET2 convention to teach shines in the follower's timing rather than the leader's.

I took one class with Guererro from Santo Rico and one with Angel Ortis(this one I liked better). And in both classes with started off with a followers' basic step...

Shines on2 favor the ladies' basic. Shines on1 favor the mens' basic.

When you're dancing on2 with a partner you can either switch up your footwork and do the shines the way your follower does or adjust it so that you start yours as you go forward.
