Footwork to Quick Open Reverse in Waltz

Assuming we precede a Quick Open Reverse in Waltz with something like a Chasse from Promenade, we have ...
1 RF Forward
& LF Forward
2 RF Side
3 LF Back

Question is the one the footwork to the second step (LF Forward).
Does it make a difference whether I dance the heel or the ball?
(I tend to prefer the ball, but I'm not sure I could tell you why)

My interpretaton of the quick open reverse is rise on the 3rd step, which here is the RF side. The rise and fall i use is 1 RF Forward (Down) 2 LF Forward (Down) 3 RF side (Up) 4 LF back (Up more and slip right foot under). So it would be heel, heel, ball, toe.

Ok, I got a little help from a friend.
They told me that if we are dancing an "&" or half beat, then we should use the ball on step 2. That is what we are doing, so it was correct. If we were dancing a time like 1, 2 & 3, then the second step would last a whole beat, and therefore we would dance a heel.

I dance it:

H, HT, T, TH

even with 1&23 timing. (so did Mirko, on a video ;-) )
It has been several months since I've tried this so it may feel differently if I do it now, but I never felt I could get much good swing on the open reverse if I did not use a Heel on the 2nd step.

I do the same as Josh. If you want to have a toe on the LF 2nd step you'd need to dance HT on the 1st step, and not just H.

Yes, I have had another coach tell me it really doesn't matter one way or the other and "what do you prefer? Ok, do that."

On the slow count, if you have time, I can see the logic of the rolling action as it will add more balance and continuity to the flight. Is there a reason you prefer the ball on a slow count?
